Butterflies for the Wall & The 2 Screened-Door Designs I Chose for the Porch

Welcome to the 602nd Metamorphosis Monday!

My daughter-in-law, Nancy, recently added these adorable butterflies to a wall in the downstairs hallway of their home. She liked them so much, she decided to order two more packages. So there will be a lot more butterflies joining these real soon.

Butterflies for Wall

They are subtle against this pale yellow wall and sooo pretty! I love how she arranged them, feels like a swarm of beautiful butterflies is passing by. They would definitely make a dramatic focal point against a darker or brighter painted wall.

Nancy found these sweet butterflies on sale here: Butterflies. I also found them here: Butterflies and in other shapes and colors here: Butterflies.

White Butterflies for Wall

Back in mid-June, I shared a post about the Wooden Screen Door Company, a company in Maine that hand-makes beautiful doors and screened doors. (Read that previous post here: Beautiful Doors, Made in America.) Once you place an order with them, there’s around a 6-8 week wait before they start building your doors.

They just reached me on the waiting list and have started work on two new screened doors for the porch. In my previous post, I was struggling to choose between all their amazing designs. What did I finally choose for the porch?

Screened Porch After Painting

This is the “style” door I chose for both doors, only I didn’t go with the kitty pattern/design. I loved the cat design but didn’t want a constant reminder of my sweet Max, so I chose a different pattern from the many they offer.

Screened Door, Cat Silhouette Design

I chose a dragonfly design for the door on the left side of the porch.

Screened Door, Dragonfly Cutout Design

For the door on the right side of the porch, I chose this adorable moon and stars design. Again, the door “style” will be like the one shown with the kitty pattern.

I really love all their nautical and cabin designs: sailboats, starfish, lobsters and so many more beachy motifs for the beach house. For the cabin, they had moose, bears, canoes, ducks, etc…. As much as I loved all those, they just didn’t seem appropriate for my porch since I’m nowhere near the beach or the mountains/woods. Makes me wish I had a beach house or cabin just so I could use one of those designs.

Screened Door with Moon and Stars Cutout Design

I love dragonflies, thus the dragonfly choice, and the porch is definitely a great spot for enjoying moonlit, starry nights. The doors will be ready in about 6-8 weeks. The guys at the Wooden Screen Door Company will let me know when they are finished and ready to ship. I can’t wait to see them in place. They are priming them for me since I plan to have them painted once they arrive. Looking forward to sharing them in place in a couple of months!

Are you working on a few home projects now before the cold weather arrives?

  3. Wanda Bradey says

My hair dresser has these butterflies in her salon. They are nice. Yes, projects abound. It all started with the removal of our useless garden tub. It took 60 gallons of water to fill just to gt the jets to operated. Lived in this house 4 years and only had it on to clean it when I moved in. Needed a closet so out it came. I now have a larger walk in shower with a 18″ bench (for when I get older). It’s beautiful. Now our master closet becomes mine and hubby gets the new closet. New vanities built and waiting on new 6 drawer cabinet for closet. Then decided to replace all carpet with hardwood….in all 4 rooms where carpet was….and now replacing current hardwood to have it all match. Painters begin tomorrow painting all of our interior. My hubby says for me to stop thinking about redoing…hey, it’s almost finished. LOL!

    • Those garden tubs seem like such a great idea many years ago when they were so popular. I guess noone thought about how much water they took to fill. Wow! I love all the changes you’re making, Wanda! Sounds like it’s going to be sooo nice when you’re all done. Your hubby will thank you when it’s all done. 🙂

  4. Susan, the Phoenix Art Museum had an entire wall of black butterflies~thousands of them during one of their exhibits. If I can find the picture I need to send it to you. Also, thanks for sharing the resource on the screen doors. They are truly a work of art! Also love your Metamorphosis Mondays~just started participating and love all the new connections!

    • Ohh, that sounds so pretty! I saw black ones today online, too. Very dramatic looking!
I can’t wait to see the doors in person! So glad someone is still making beautiful wood doors here in the U.S.!

  5. I will keep my fingers crossed that the doors are not destroyed in shipping! I swear the Atlanta UPS try’s to destroy packages!

  6. Great choices for the door designs. I’d be tempted to hang a star from the moon–like ones on your ceiling–that would glow at night.

  7. Your doors are going to be beautiful Susan. I’m excited to see them in place! And love Nancy’s butterflies too – you two are definitely birds of a feather! 🙂 Hope you have a lovely week, and see you on Thursday!

  8. Those are some gorgeous doors, Susan! I would go with a dragonfly too.
