Cottage Style by Jerri Farris and Tim Himsel

3 Things I Like About This Book:

  • This book is for the crafter or DIYer who loves making or refurbishing treasures for their cottage home. Cottage Style contains detailed directions for making 30+ projects including several different styles of pillows, a teapot lamp, a teacup candle, a simple headboard, a mirrored tray table, refurbishing a chandelier, gilding candlesticks, several different style clocks and lots of ideas for creating a decorative mirror.
  • Many of the projects would fit well in a non-cottage style home, too, would just need to change-up the design choices or fabrics.
  • The authors included tons of pictures, a list of the materials needed along with the directions for each project. Though I may never get around to attempting any of the projects, I loved seeing the makeovers and how they were done.

I have this book in paperback form, I don’t think a hardback is available.

  1. I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your blog. I don’t usually take time in the library to browse, but when you recommend a book I quickly go online and order it from my local library. I don’t buy many books because of space and finances but do enjoy seeing some truly quality books. Again, thank for taking the time to post these.

    • Thanks, Ann…so glad you enjoy these posts. I’ve had such nice feedback on the library posts, so they are a lot of fun for me to create, too. 🙂

  2. Your review led me to search Cottage style images. Seems to be broader than I thought: some closer to shabby chic, some a little beachy, and some bungalow. Always nice to expand my decor horizons, thanks.

  3. Hello Susan,
On a completely different topic !
    Have a great trip .
The recommendation for a scarf is beyond practical ! I use one 100% of the time on airplanes. Either too much air blowing, too cold or “snore”problem from a nearby passenger ! And it can change up an outfit to boot! The infinity scarves are great too. They come in different sizes so you can double or not. There is less material to fuse about .Just pop over to a T J Maxx to check them out. They always seem to have them .
    Happy Travels!

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
