Party season is just around the corner…will you be hosting any parties for Halloween or the upcoming holiday season? The book I’m featuring today is filled with gorgeous ideas for parties year around.
In the BNOTP Library: A Passion for Parties
Author: Carolyne Roehm
3 Things I Like About This Book:
- If I never followed a single idea is this gorgeous book and never gave another party, this is still a book I love pulling down from my bookshelf over and over again. It’s the kind of book you lose yourself in for an afternoon, a delicious extravagance from cover to cover. The photography is wonderful, as is always the case for any Carolyn Roehm book. There are lots of beautiful table settings for us to oooh and ahhh over.
- Carolyne covers parties for every season and holiday in this book. Even though I’ll never host a party as grand as those featured in A Passion for Parties, there are lots of great takeaway ideas on every page. I LOVE the tablecloth and table decorations for her Dickens-inspired Halloween party on pages 112-113. Carolyne can even make a spooky, cob-web-covered Halloween table look elegant! 🙂
- The book is laid out by the season, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, featuring all the holidays that fall within each season, plus, a few additional celebrations like birthdays. Carolyne gives us “blue and white” fans a thrill with her “Birthday Bash for The Beaty Girls” party. Another one of my favorite books by her is A Passion for Blue and White. This book really has it all with gorgeous decorating ideas, beautiful table settings, stunning floral arrangements and ideas for hosting wonderful parties for any season or holiday.

I love throwing parties, and this book sounds like it has great ideas.
I so appreciate your book reviews!
By the way, we are looking into Zeon Zoysia for next spring since you have sung its praises! We using plant Fescue every year, but that is getting old and expensive. Here in VA we are in between the North and South and the garden experts are saying we should ditch Fescue. Are you still happy with your lawn?
I am but it takes some getting used to how long it takes to green up. My house faces north and doesn’t get sun like the ones across the street, and my lawn is always the last one to green up. If you don’t mind a yellow/whitish lawn until late April/May, it’s beautiful once it greens up. Oh, I did notice it stays greener into fall than my neighbors yards. They all have emerald or myers zoysia…forgot which. Zeon wasn’t available when they sodded their lawns. One good thing too is you don’t have to mow it all fall/winter/spring…pretty much just have to mow it in the summer. So it’s pretty maintenance free, and I do like it. It’s just different from Fescue…and I don’t miss having to overseed every year in the fall. Here in ATL, the summers can be hard on fescue so we have to overseed every blooming year. I don’t miss that!
How can anyone not love a book about parties! Very timely tip, thanks.
I love her style! So elegant and timeless.

I need this book as of yesterday!
I love a good party. And because of you I want my house to always look party ready. At least in my living room and dining room.
