Welcome to the 835th Tablesape Thursday! Can you believe we are just a month away from Halloween! Recently I heard from Elena who said, “I am planning an interesting tablescape for my husband’s birthday on October 10, so I went ahead and did a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) themed table this past weekend. I have had a lot of what is on the table for years but never put it all together until I found a pair of gorgeous candelabras at TJ Maxx—I HAD to have them!!! (Update: I misunderstood, this isn’t Elena’s hubby’s birthday table, this is a table she decided to do, in the meantime. Her hubby’s table will be done in a 1964/1965 World’s Fair theme. Can’t wait to see that one!)
Elena said, “My daughter thought the table could use a centerpiece, the later photos show the table with a black vase with flowers. If I did it again I would get more colorful flowers!”
Such a festive, colorful table! I’ve seen The Day of the Dead decor before and knew that it was to honor passed loved ones, but wasn’t sure about its origin. History.com states the following.
The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink, and celebration.
You can read a lot more about this holiday at the link above.
Love the addition of the flowers in the center of the table—goes so well with the floral designs that are seen all throughout the table setting.
This is the candelabra that Elena found and was the inspiration for this festive table setting. You’ll find this colorful, floral candelabra available for purchase here: Candelabra.
Elena found her salad plates and flatware on eBay. I have the same flatware Elena and it used to be available HERE, but I don’t see it available now. You’ll find festive floral napkins that are very similar to the ones Elena is using in her table here: Floral, Day of the Dead Napkins.

If you would like to set a Day of the Dead table for an upcoming Halloween party or would like to decorate in this theme for Halloween, you’ll find a lot of very colorful, festive decor items here: Day of the Dead Table and Decor.
Elena found her beaded table runner/centerpiece in Pier 1.
Thanks so much to Elena for sharing this colorful and wonderfully creative table setting. Looking forward to the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!
If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.
Elena, you never fail to impress.
Susan, are you in the path of the hurricane? We have had tornado warnings already.
Everyone stay safe.
Thank You Myrna! My goodness, hope everyone weathered the storm all right !!!
Elena’s table is awesome fun. My daughter loves DotD decor and would adore that tablescape!!! BTW: you absolutely MUST watch CoCo with your family. It’s one of the best Disney shows – and all about it. I’ve seen it several times and it is an absolute favorite – for ALL ages. It’s so good. Not babyish at all.
Thank You Michele! Mt kids are older so I do not watch Disney that much but I will have to look into CoCo!!!!
So colorful and spirited! What a great tablescape…..thanks for sharing!!!
Thank You Rosie!!!
