Welcome to the 907th Tablescape Thursday!

Sadly, my plans to set a table this week using these plates that I recently ordered didn’t work out. I ordered two sets, and each set arrived on a different day. The first set to arrive was defective: the writing on the plates was crooked/cockeyed. I knew that would drive me crazy, so I returned those and hoped the next set would arrive looking like the photo from the ad.

Nope. Those plates arrived the following day, also with crooked writing. Argh!

So, though I don’t have a table to share today, here are just some ideas I had that I thought you might find helpful as you celebrate Valentine’s Day with the one(s) you love. This champagne punch is one I normally make at Christmas time, but I think it would also work for V-Day with a small change.

Instead of adding red and green sugar to the rims, you could use nonpareils, or just red sugar. You’ll find the easy recipe for this delicious champagne punch here: Champagne Punch.

How about some heart cakes for dessert?

I’ve made these several times, trying different types of filling each time. The first time I made them, I filled these with Raspberry Jam.

The second time, I filled them with pink frosting.

One of the last times I made them, I filled them with red frosting. (See this table setting in detail here: Romantic Valentine’s Day.)

I don’t believe Wilton is still making the heart pan that I used for baking my heart cakes, but this one looks very similar. You’ll find it available here: Heart Pan.

I would love to make this cake! Love how it looks with pink icing drizzling down and powdered sugar with tiny hearts sprinkled across the top. I wonder if the icing is made with powdered sugar. I find that type of icing is usually very easy to make! You’ll find this heart pan available here: Heart Cake Pan.

Hosting a tea party on Valentine’s Day? Here’s a super-easy recipe for making these adorable heart-shaped sugar cubes: Heart Sugar Cubes.

Not exactly a Valentine’s Day recipe, but I think this cheese ring would be great if you had some girlfriends over for a Galentine’s Day. You’ll find the recipe for this delicious cheese appetizer here: Strawberry Cheese Ring Appetizer.

I was going to suggest making a festive Cranberry Trifle for your Valentine’s Day dessert, but I wonder if cranberries would be tough to find this time of year. Here’s the recipe if that suggestion appeals to you: Cranberry Trifle.

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

I ordered the plates! They arrived quickly and are perfect. Thank you for sharing them with us. I hope yours come with straight lettering!
Maybe I should order them again, I was worried they were all defective since both of the boxes I received were. That gives me some hope! Thanks for letting me know, Sue!
So sorry your plates weren’t right, Susan. That is so frustrating, I know! And I know how careful you are when you mention products. Hopefully everyone who ordered will have a better experience, like Sue did.
In the meantime, thanks for this fun post. So many good reminders of fun previous posts and good ideas. Happy Valentine’s Day!
I hope noone else received plates with slanted writing. So annoying!
I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day tomorrow!
Your ideas for Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day celebrations look delicious!
Thanks, Judy! Hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day tomorrow! ♥
Oh you had to be disappointed, Susan. but I like your Val Day suggestions.
Yup, I was really hoping the second set would be okay. They were a bit better, but still crooked.
Those cakes are so lovely, thank you for sharing and thank you for hosting!
Thanks! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Love all of your ideas. I think I will do sugar cookies and stamp with a heart as they cool. I’m thinking buttercream frosting with maraschino cherry juice for color! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Oh, that sound perfect for Valentine’s Day! I like the cherry juice idea!
