Welcome to the 56th Metamorphosis Monday!
It’s a few weeks before Christmas, a nice afternoon and you are out running a few errands…just doing a little shopping. On the way home, you decide to take a little peek in the window of a local thrift shop. Oh, what’s this…a sweatshirt with a wonderful hand made, cross-stitched design. And it’s only $4…way too cute to leave behind!
Ummm, now what will you do with it? Wear it at Christmastime, right?
Not if you’re my clever and talented friend, Linda…who, from the moment she saw it, knew it would be just perfect on a darling, little footstool she had waiting at home. 🙂
Here’s how it looked beside her tree this past Christmas. I didn’t get a chance to share this with you at Christmastime, but I knew you could use this idea any time of the year. What a great use for an article of clothing you might no longer wear.
Linda, thanks so much for sharing this awesome idea for Metamorphosis Monday! I know I’ll be looking twice at those old sweaters and shirts now before I decide to toss them out.
Looking forward to seeing all your “Before and Afters.”

Neat idea! I've seen clothing re-purposed for pillows, but not yet to cover furniture!
I'm filing away this idea. The Christmas tree is beautiful.

What a clever recycling idea for a sweatshirt! Thanks again for hosting MM!
Great makeover for very little money. Doesn't get any better than that. Cute idea!
Yay! This is my first time linking up. I have done quite a few furniture makeovers, and I started posts about them (and saved in Windows Live Writer) so that I can post new ones every week and join in the fun! Thanks so much for doing this for us!

Susan, what a great footstool, very cleverly done! Thanks for hosting this party week after week. I always appreciate the ideas and pics you share. Linda
I love the stool with the SCU cover. I have never done any of that type needlework, but I know lots of time went into all of those little stitches. It is great that Linda thought of such a darling way to salvage such a treasure and give it a whole new look. I just love her adorable pillow on that unique chair. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Hugs,Katherine
I have a footstool that is looking rather shabby (not in a good way) – I use it all the time so it is well worn- I will have to find a cute little something like this to recover it!
Thank you again for hosting Met Monday! I was the first entry this time!! How did that happen!!!
what a great idea.. I'll definately be looking for items to use in this way.. Thanks for hosting another great Meta Monday, Susan.

Cute stool cover! Her tree setting was so pretty.
Thanks! Can't wait to check out everyone's projects! It sometimes takes me a while but I get there!
Susan, this is a great idea. I've often regreted giving away some of my favorite sweather that were knitted with some wonderful designs. They would have made perfect throw pillows or footstool covers or ???

My Mom alerted me to your blog several weeks ago and I haven't made a comment yet. Thanks for making me look forward to Mondays and Thursdays! Always beautiful photos. 🙂
Your friend had a great idea! She'll enjoy that footstool for many years. If the person who made that sweatshirt happens to see this, she'll regret putting it into the Goodwill bag.
That was adorable!
What a great use for a sweatshirt that someone spent a lot of time making! It was the perfect size for her little foot stool and so cute!

That is one sweet little foot stool, Susan! I have yet to see a cross-stitched anything in my local thrifts. She did a beautiful job on it and her holiday tree looks lovely.

Tina
Susan, What a Darling Footstool, cover the seasonal cover. One day, I will find something to show to join you.

What a great idea! Even better because I made this exact sweatshirt many years ago and never wear it. It was a lot of work and just sits in a closet. I don't have a footstool, but I see a pillow in my future!
Thanks for posting this!!

I'm always amazed at how creative people can be. This idea has lots of possiblities.
I was going to link my post, but I'm not seeing Mr. Linky…is it just me?

I did this cross stitch piece on a sweatshirt for my daughter-in-law and said I would never do that paritcular piece again. But the stool is such a neat idea. I might have to change my mind. Thanks for sharing.
