Welcome to the 885th Metamorphosis Monday! A few weeks ago, I shared the dishwasher I had chosen for the Dollhouse kitchen: a 2-drawer, Fisher & Paykel dishwasher.

If you saw that post, you may remember the interior photos that I shared of how it looked with dishes loaded inside.

I had to have an electrician install an outlet underneath the sink before it could be installed. That was done on December 27th, and the dishwasher was installed the following week. I love the dishwasher; it washes beautifully, and I can’t say enough about the convenience and ease of the 2-drawer design. I don’t think I’ll ever want to go back to a regular style dishwasher after using this one for the past two weeks. But, as with everything I renovate in this house, there always seems to be a glitch. After the dishwasher was installed, I noticed that when I opened the bottom drawer, the black panel that runs along the lower edge of the bottom drawer slightly dragged on the hardwood flooring. That issue turned out to be an easy fix with the installer shortening the black panel a tiny bit via a method designed into the panel for that. But there was another issue that was really bugging me. The top and bottom drawers were not properly lined up. In the photo below, do you see how the top drawer and bottom drawer are slightly askew?

The two drawers in a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher come as a unit, so there’s no reason for the top drawer not to line up with the bottom drawer. Looking back now, I can see the issue in this photo before the dishwasher was installed.

You can see how much it’s off in this photo below. I contacted Best Buy Installation, and the installer came back out. He quickly corrected the issue with the bottom drawer scraping along the hardwood flooring when opened, but he said there was nothing he could do about the drawers not lining up. He added that he had noticed that himself when he was installing it.

During the interim period when the dishwasher was delivered but was sitting in my dining room until the electric outlet could be installed under the sink, I had noticed some paperwork taped to the plastic that was on the back of the unit.

The form was titled “Unit Return Form” and here’s what it showed. Apparently, the unit I received was in a truck accident at some point and was returned, still “factory sealed.” Not sure if that has anything to do with the current cockeyed drawers, but Best Buy is installing a replacement dishwasher tomorrow.

Remember when I bought a refrigerator for the Dollhouse from Lowe’s, and it arrived with multiple dents down the front? Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly tomorrow.

In the meantime, I have really loved using this dishwasher! Everything comes out beautifully clean, and it’s so easy to load!

So far, I’ve only used the top drawer. I had planned to use the bottom drawer (pictured below) just to make sure that it works okay, but once I realized this unit was going to need replacing, I never took the time to try it out. Here’s how it looks inside, though. The layout is just like the top drawer, only the drawer itself is a little less deep/tall. Fisher & Paykel makes several dishwasher models. I went with the model that has two different-sized drawers, with the top drawer being a bit deeper/taller. They do make a version where the drawers are the same size, but since I knew I’d mostly be using the top drawer, I wanted it to be a bit larger. The bottom drawer will easily hold full-size plates standing up, so it’s not that much shallower than the top drawer. When I used the dishwasher, I removed the grids that you see on the flatware holder. I prefer it to be wide open so it’s fast and easy to drop my flatware into the little bin.

After trying several settings, my favorite is “Fast” with the “Extra Dry” option. That cycle takes around 70 minutes to run, and the dishes come out clean and dry. LOVE this dishwasher!

And for those who have been asking, here are a few photos of Agatha and Beatrice. They were only 7 weeks old when I adopted them, and they are almost 5 months old now!

They adore my grandsons, and my grandsons adore them! Beatrice will sleep in your arms like a baby for hours.

You know that old saying that you never go to the bathroom alone when you own a cat. Well, it’s true! They need to be everywhere you are—there’s no such thing as privacy! Ha!

Hopefully, the installation of the new dishwasher will be completed tomorrow without any issues. I’ll let you know in a future post how things go!

Good catch on the offset drawers. I’m glad you’re getting the replacement soon, and glad you like the dishwasher itself – it sure is pretty! The kitties are adorable, and the kitties with grandsons is even MORE adorable! So fun to have them with you. Thanks as always for hosting the party today. Hope your week is starting off great.
Thanks so much, Barbara! Hopefully, tomorrow’s dishwasher delivery/install will go off without a hitch. Hope you are staying warm!

I had a Fisher & Paykel washing machine and dryer for about 10 years, and I loved them. I have a relatively small laundry room, so my choices in appliances were somewhat limited. They had so many features, and they were so whisper quiet and elegant looking. (It sounds funny to describe a washer and dryer as being elegant, but they were. ) They finally lived their lives, though, and I had to replace them both. Unfortunately F&P no longer made those specific models. They are high end and pricey, so good thing you are getting the dishwasher replaced.
I love your kitties – I have two cats who are brothers that I rescued about 10 years ago, and I adore them! Happy New Year, Susan.
Awww, thanks! They are in their adolescent/teenage period and are always into something or trying to find something to get into. lol
Lisa, if you ever need a new washer/dryer, though not elegant looking, Speed Queen is the best I’ve found and should last you a long, long time. They are a bit more expensive than some brands, but worth it for how well they are made. Plus, they are made right here in the U.S. When my GE washer died after 41-1/2 years, I went with a Speed Queen. I don’t expect to ever need to buy another washer or dryer since these appliances are pretty legendary for longevity.
I simply LOVE Agatha and Beatrice and your very handsome grandsons!
With love,
Barb
Thanks so much, Barb! ♥
Hope all goes well with the installation.
I have never had an indoor cat until my granddaughter came to live with me and I was shocked about the bathroom habit! lol Every single time! I do like cats but residing in someone else’s house. lol
I absolutely hate when I have to purchase anything. It usually gets damaged while installing or damage my walls or floors. And then the company wants to deny everything. Love the kitties! Precious laying in grandsons lap.
Nice looking dishwasher. Glad you were able to get it replaced without any trouble. Thanks for the adorable kitten photos. Looks like you have full time kitty sitters. Are they going to be full size cats? I only have one full size. The others are a smaller breed. I don’t remember. Are they sisters?
You will never have another dull day!
Good call on the dishwasher drawers. It would drive me crazy. The photo of the little kitten paws under the bathroom door made me laugh. Did you ever get your guest bathroom finished? Looking forward to seeing the wallpaper.
Ugh, sorry that happened but glad you are getting satisfaction from the company. My FP dishwasher drawers are a slightly different model but also have taller top drawer. I rarely use the bottom drawer but run it about once a month through a fast cycle just to keep it clean and all the parts moving. Your kittens are adorable and it’s hilarious how they try to reach under the door! Hope you’re staying warm!
Love the new Dishwasher. I know you will be happy to have it replaced soon.
The Kitties are so adorable. The cutest little faces and so cuddly. I don’t know how you ever lived without them. The boys seem to be so in love with them too. I just love when you put pictures of them in your posts.
How is the noise level of your dishwasher? My current GE is running fine, but I’m always scouting out possible replacements. I hate getting caught by surprise when an appliance fails, can’t be fixed, & then I’m scrambling to do research on it. My big pet peeve is always the noise level of dishwashers, clothes washers & dryers loud noise levels. I always cringe when a new appliance is being delivered – fear of dents & other imperfections. I really miss the old local appliance stores where you knew you didn’t have to worry about stuff like that. 🙁
I know, I do too. It would be so nice if things were always correct the first delivery. This one is quiet. It’s not completely silent but it’s not noisy either. I think it’s pretty quiet.
Never a dull moment…your “Dollhouse” is a plethora of activity!!! dishwasher is corrected…bummer!! Your shadows are adorable!!! ❤️ franki
That looks like a great dishwasher, Susan. I love the two drawers and I’m glad you are liking it so far. It does seem that you have more than your fair share of troubles with appliances and deliveries. Good thing you have your two grands and your two adorable room-mates to help make up for the troubles. 😉
The pictures are great! The way Beatrice is laying in Court’s arms like that is adorable. And he certainly seems happy to have her there. And the way Agatha is letting Charlie use her is a pillow is so cute as well. The boys certainly have found buddies in those kittens. The paw under the door is just too cute.
Well, here’s hoping tomorrow’s delivery goes smoothly. Have a great week and thanks for the cute pictures to get it off to a good start for your readers.
It seems when you are ordering anything new these days there is an issue. I recently purchased a dishwasher that as soon as you opened the door the drawers rolled out at you. Not right. Bought a new refrig and it wouldn’t make ice! It’s so frustrating and you need reputable merchants for the back and forth that occurs!
Looks like you are faring well!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope it’s a great one. Nice looking dishwasher. Wouldn’t it be lovely if all could just work out well the first go around. I hate all the research time it takes to find something, especially items I’m hoping will last a good long while. Your opinions on products has so helped ease the burden of my searches for so many products, and that’s appreciated so very much. The pix of your grands w/ A & B is precious! It’s easy to see that your little fur balls get lots of love & attention. I had a good chuckle seeing the paw under the door–brought back fond memories of our sweet cat. Hugs!
Thanks so much, Bobbi! ♥
I know, I think I’d pass out if things went well the first time around. lol
They brought out a new dishwasher today and it looked slightly askew just sitting on the floor before it was installed, but after it was installed, it appears to be straight…thank goodness!
I’m so glad to hear that!
They do get tons of attention, probably more than they like. Ha!
I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Yes, those two drawers not aligning properly would irk me no end. You are wise to have it replaced. So glad you love it. We got a new Bosch single door dishwasher about 5 years ago and I wish I had known about F&P at that time.
My Bosch is fine but I would love the convenience of 2 drawers. Live & learn. This one will probably outlast me in this house! Love the pictures of the two fluffy babies!!!! They are so adorable. They hit the cat mom lottery!!!

I actually laughed out loud a big chuckle from the wee paws under the bathroom door. SO true – kitties will follow you EVERYWHERE. Those cute grands with the kitties – precious pic. ♥♥♥♥
