Love, Lust, Passion & Romance–This Cozy Valentine’s Day Table Has It All

Welcome to the 696th Tablescape Thursday!

It’s the yearly meeting of the Valentine’s Day Book Club and this year it’s all about love, lust, passion, and romance. ♥♥♥

Decor Books in Valentine's Day Table Setting

When it’s cold out, I crave candlelight and cozy plaids.

Winter Table, Valentine's Day

Hope you enjoy this cozy meeting of the Valentine’s Day Book Club.

Books and Candlelight, Valentine's Day Table with a Twist

I kept all the titles facing forward for photos but you could alternate which way they face if setting a table with a similar centerpiece. Also, if your table has room, you could do more than one stack, facing them in different directions. I realized this morning, I have a few more Carolyn Roehm “Passion” books that would fit well into this centerpiece.

Book Centerpiece for Valentine's Day

Books in centerpiece can be found here: The 50 Greatest Love Letters of All Time; Romantic Country; Rooms We Love; House Lust; A Passion for Antiques; Romantic Style; A Passion for Detail; Romantic Style; A Passion for Parties; Romantic Country Style.

Decor Book Themed Centerpiece

Plaid tablecloth and napkins are currently on sale here: Tartan Tablecloth. I think the runner is from HomeGoods or Marshalls…been too long to remember.

Tablescape Thursday

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table-setting related, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please link up table setting or table setting related posts only for Tablescape Thursday.

  1. Oh Susan! The candlelight photo is my very favorite! I’m the same as you – when it’s cold, I want cozy – and this table is totally perfect! There’s nothing better than books and plaid and candles! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration, once again!

  2. Ooh, I love the romantic book club! My table is loosely interpreted from the Art Garfunkel torch rendition of “I Only Have Eyes for You”, but using the winter scene outside and cozy indoors as inspiration. 🙂 It’s all about love. Have a great weekend, Susan.

  3. I love, love your table Susan. I’m big about books in our homes and this table makes my heart sing. Although I’m in California and it’s not terribly cold here, I am still all about cozy & staying home by the fire right now. Have a great weekend. XO- MaryJo

    • Oh, I’m so glad–makes my day to hear that! I so agree, MaryJo–books add so much warmth to a room, I just love, love, love them! It’s funny, I don’t mind the cold now as much as I once did since I can stay inside and avoid it. It feels kinda refreshing when I do venture out.
Hope you have an awesome weekend!

  4. What a fun theme for a Valentine table Susan! It’s so pretty and romantic with the cozy plaids and candles! Thanks for the table fun today~

  5. I think members of the book club would be grabbing books off the stack and soon would have their noses in a book all evening. By time for desert I would have read all 50 of the greatest love letters of all time.

  6. Love the idea of a book club table on a winter day!

    • Thanks, Rachelle! I think that’s my plan for the rest of the evening, some reading and maybe a mug of hot chocolate to go with it.
      Stay warm!

  7. Such a lovely table with your books, candlelight and plate settings. I am happy to link up. Have a lovely weekend. Thanks for hosting.

  8. Hi Susan, I love the idea of a cozy book club / dinner club. What a fun thing that would be to do with a group of nice friends! I love those salad plates. I don’t remember seeing them before. Have you ever tried them directly on the charger? I wonder if that would look well. Maybe it would be too ‘busy.’ Regardless, I love them. They remind me of a Juliska pattern I like very much. ~~ Well, no snow here right now but still freeezing temperatures. A tablescape like this (especially if it were next to the fireplace!) would warm me right up. Hope you’re warm where you are. 🙂

    • No, I have tried them against the charger. They did make dinner plates in that berry pattern…salad plates, too. I just absolutely fell hard for the chargers when I first saw them a year or two back.
Yup, cold here too—but have you noticed the daylight is staying a little longer with us now? I love that so much, knowing the days are getting longer…well, the daylight that is. The days are still 24 hours. lol

      • I love those chargers too. They have a Springtime version as well, which I also love. They look so sweet with the bunny salad plates you have. I don’t remember if you got those chargers. I seem to remember it was only the bunny plates. And yes! I’m noticing we have more light in both the morning and evening. I’m sure Spring will be back, though sometimes it doesn’t seem like it, lol. Good point about the days! 😀

  9. Lovely, cozy table – I like the “book centerpiece” idea.

  10. I love when the sun is shining in on your table! Love the book idea. How do you take a photo of your place settings? Do you get on a ladder? I have trouble getting a good photo.

    • Thanks, Sheri! I just stand on one of the chairs or sometimes I’ll just hold my hands up high over my head. I can normally get a better view if I stand on a chair, though. If you try that, please be careful! 🙂

  11. Hi Dear Susan! Oh, I just love your pretty romantic table and have never thought of using books to help your centerpiece! Your dishes are lovely. I’m happy to get to join you today and hope all is well in your world.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 🙂

  12. Love those dishes and the plaid tablecloth. Thank you for sharing.
    HAPPY ST.VALENTINE’S DAY
    Marilyn

  13. Susan, this is a fun idea for a valentine table. I have many of those books already. Clever theme and centerpiece! Thanks for hosting us!

    • Oh, that is so awesome, Sarah! I never realized how many books have the word “passion” in the title until I started looking for books with great titles for this table. I have a couple of more I could have included. Happy Weekend to you! And Happy Valentine’s Day a bit early. ♥

  14. I’m torn between the cozy candlelight version and the warming sunlight version Guess I would have to join both the dinner meeting and the brunch one!

  15. What a fun table setting Susan! I love the book stack and if I was a member of this book club and was invited to this cozy dinner setting, I’d have my nose in one of those books, preferably the Love Letters one. lol I love everything about this setting. The dishes, the silverware, the cozy plaids, the candle light and the books-oh the books! lol This is a perfect cozy Valentine Book Club table setting and I’m in love with it! Hugs, Brenda

  16. A lovely warm and wintry approach to romance and Valentine’s Day! Especially when the light is low!

  17. Cyndi Raines. says

Yes, please, a nice mug of hot chocolate and a good chat around this lovely table with friends about these great books would be a wonderful way to spend an afternoon or cozy evening. Great tablescape Susan! Love the plaid and candles anytime! Hehe

  18. I miss Mary Emerling’s TV show and books.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
