This napkin fold is a great fold to create with a striped napkin but it will work with any pattern. I used a 20″ square, blue and white striped napkin for this tutorial. Hope you enjoy this fun fold. It’s a great one for summertime dining.
Here’s a second way to display this fold for a completely different look:
You could even tuck a little surprise down into the center…maybe some flowers or a pretty sea shell.
Another great napkin fold for summertime is the “Double Sails” fold. You’ll find that fold HERE.

Definitely fun, Susan. Thanks for the tutorial. ~ Sarah
You make this look so simple & elegant, but I'd mangle it all up in a heart beat even with pictures & a tutorial! ☺
Oh, that's certainly a "fun" fold. You do some great things with napkins. I'm always going in to check your tutorials when I want something unusual. Thank you for sharing your talents.

Love the "summer" fold, and you have given such clear directions and wonderful visuals….being a visual learner, I love the pictures!!
You must be a mind reader. I've been toying with trying a nautical tablescape at some time in the future. This will definitely help!
As a brand new tablescaper, I just want to thank you for all that you do to inspire me on a daily basis!
DARLING Susan:
Fortunately, I do have (and have had) off white plates and I found a 4 pc setting of salad plates two years ago, garage shopping, that had lighthouses on them. I don't have striped napkins….but I do have fabric ink to stamp white ones….hmmm. I will give this a whirl.
Thanks,
As always, Lisa
Susan,
I adore your napkin tutorials. . .you make them all so easy. Before these, I was lucky if my napkins were folded in half. . .you know the boxy rectangle or the chunky triangle. Yes, those are my OLD way of folding napkins. Can't wait til morning to try this out for the breakfast table! Thank you for sharing useful and enjoyable ideas for the home!
Fondly,
Pat
ah…yes…brings back memories of a summer spent working in Mrs. Teapot's Tea Room for $3 per hr…folding lots of these….thanks…I had forgotten how…love the stripe fabric….
Hi Susan,

This is the sort of thoughtful, unexpected touch that really takes a table setting to a higher level of "specialness!"
Kindest regards,
Bill
Dear Susan,

Love the nautical napkin folding. I will be doing this for our summer lunches on the deck. Thank you so much.
I love this with the striped napkin. It is almost like making a paper hat (remember those)? This was a wonderful tutorial, thanks!
Susan, I love the napkin sail.
I recently helped with a nautical themed baby shower, and we folded striped paper into little boats using the trial and error method. Your tutorial would have come in handy! Thanks for all the great ideas you share.

Excellent! I went to a fancy Italian Cafe, and they had theirs done up like that and I was sooo impressed… Now I can do it too! Thank you so much!!! 🙂
