Deck Transformation, Winter to Spring

Since most everyone who visits Between Naps on the Porch has seen my two porches, I thought I’d share a different area today. There are decks off either side of my screened-in porch and one of those decks has a cozy little corner over near the grill. It’s the perfect spot to sit if you want to be near the grill while you are cooking out. This is the winter view…pretty blah.

And here’s the summer view…added some wind chimes, comfy cushions, a window-box style planter behind the table and lots of plants…

Unfortunately, we have had really bad storms every day, for several days now…so please excuse all the leaves. I would have swept before taking these pics, but the deck is still soaking wet from today’s storms. The geraniums were all blooming up until a week or so ago…but since we’ve had nothing but constant rain for the last several days, the blooms all fell off. 🙁 So try to imagine bright red and white geranium blooms, all over the place! 🙂

This little area of the deck is located just behind the swing on the screened-in porch.

Those are tomato plants tucked into the corners…and that’s the edge of the grill that keeps sneaking into the pics on the lower left.

One of the tomato plants…

My first little crop… 🙂

Here’s the other tomato plant…I think these tomatoes are supposed to be bigger…they are called ‘Husky’. The one toward the bottom is getting pretty big…so I don’t think these are going to be cherry tomatoes…time will tell.

Some herbs around the bottom…Italian basil on the left and thyme on the right…

And a little sprig of Rosemary toward the back…

Come sit with me…our dinner is on the grill.

So, how was your day? Dinner can wait…

I have decided to make this a monthly Event, so you have four weeks to get everything ready. LOL

Love all your plants and I can imagine it with all the geraniums! Just lovely! It is raining and gloomy here today too. Hopefully this storm will wash away the last of the spring pollen!

  40. laurie @ bargain hunting says

Such a charming area, and those wine glasses are so pretty. Love the way you planted herbs around the bottom of your tomato vines. I want tomato vines so badly, but the squirrels always get the tomatoes before I do, and that frustrates me, so I quit planting them. Maybe if I planted them closer to the house (as you did), the squirrels wouldn’t bother them?? laurie

  41. Terri and Bob says
