Welcome to the 845th Metamorphosis Monday! Happy Monday! I hope you had an awesome weekend! I have a few Before/Afters to share that are currently in the works. In this older photo of my office, taken before I added the table between the chairs and moved the floor lamp to the sunroom, notice the blank spot on the left wall underneath the windows.
Here’s another view of that area the day the plantation shutters were installed in this room.
Currently, I have two lamps in this room, the one that’s on the console behind my desk…
…and the one here between the chairs in this more recent photo.
I’d like a lamp on this side of the room. A few days ago, I began thinking about what I could add on this side of the room underneath the windows that would hold a lamp. I briefly thought about a chest with lots of drawer space, but I have plenty of that type of storage in my desk.
Plus, I have a lot of great storage in the baskets of the Ikea Kallax tucked away here in the office closet. What I could really use is file drawers, but file cabinets are not always attractive. I prefer storage solutions that are pretty and don’t really look like storage.
After a bit of searching, I came across this reasonably priced console that’s secretly a lateral file cabinet. The three drawers are designed to hold file folders. It’s currently on sale, 20% off here: Console with 3 File Drawers.
The console/file cabinet should fit right beneath the windows. Now I need to go lamp shopping. I can’t wait to have a lamp on this side of the room. Lamps are one of my favorite things in the world—I love how they transform a room! Looking forward to sharing a photo of how it looks after it arrives. Hopefully, I will love it.
Remember the solar lights that I added along the walkway at the house in Georgia?
You may remember that I added the same lights alongside the stone stairs leading to the patio in my backyard here at the dollhouse. Not the greatest picture since this was taken with my phone through the window screen, but you can see how brightly they still shine at night, illuminating the stairs. They made it through our cold, snowy Ohio winter and are still going strong. It makes me so happy to look out the window and see them shining brightly in the backyard. If you could use some lights along a sunny path in your garden, I love how these look and last. You’ll find them available here: Solar Lights for the Garden or Walkway.
One more small change that I have planned for the dollhouse is adding back the door that was removed from this opening to the living room. (Photo is from the real estate listing a few years back.)
Here’s a wide-angle photo that I took last night while standing on the staircase. I know it doesn’t look like it, but there’s plenty of room, once the door is reinstalled, for it to open back against those two little storage closets. I rarely access those two storage cubbies, maybe once a week, so I’d rather have the door back where it belongs. I think it’s currently stored in the basement, I’ve seen several doors down there. If I don’t like it, once it’s rehung, I can always remove it and store it away again. I need to find a good handyman to help me with things like this.
A lot of flowers are coming to life in the Dollhouse garden. I have seen this flower on garden tours in the past, but I can’t remember its name.
Here’s a closer photo where it’s growing alongside the driveway in the front yard. Is this Lenten Rose? Appreciate your help in identifying this pretty flower!

Love the console – happy lamp shopping. I am looking for a lamp for my office, too. The one I have casts a shadow on what I am doing, so I am off to find one today. Love that your garden at the new house is coming up – Spring!
Thanks, Ann! I tell ya, lamp shopping is not easy these days. They all have drum shades which is my least favorite shape for a shade.
Yes! That is Lenten Rose or Helleboros. I have the exact same variety in my back garden.
Thanks, Nancy! It’s so pretty, love the soft spring colors!
Hellebores!! I ❤️ “Lenten Rose ” just bought 4 waiting t/b planted.
Your drawer selection is PERFECT!! franki
Thanks, Franki! Hope it works for that space. Have fun with your spring planting. I would love to add more flowers in back this spring.
I’m sure I am not the first….but your flower is a Hellebore. Also called the Lenten Rose, because it blooms during Lent. Loves shade but will be happy in semi-shade. I bet those are under some trees. They will die back when it gets hot, but may give you some green all year. Trim off the old ugly leaves in February to show off the new flowers. Happy spring. I am waiting for the end of pollen before I get to enjoy my porch room.
Peace,
Lin
Oh, how interesting. Thanks for that history…that will help me remember the name. They are planted under/near a tree. Thanks for all that good info!
There’s an app called PlantNet that can identify by photo. It agrees with other commenters that it is Lenten Rose
I need to look for that. Thanks, Cherl!
Good morning, Susan. I really like that lateral file cabinet. I think it would go well in that space and look nice with the other pieces in your office!
You are correct about the flower-Lenten Rose.
Thanks, Pat!

Great ideas, I really need to clean my cabinets and rearrange….getting to be a chore at age 77…grins, Sandi
Thanks, Sandi! I know, that’s my least favorite thing…sorting stuff like that. It’s nice though when you can find something you need quickly.
It is indeed Lenten Rose – lucky you! I love how they bloom so early. Enjoy!
They are really pretty! It’s so interesting, seeing what’s coming up for spring!
Thanks, Joy!
Your mystery flowers are beautiful. Happy Spring and thanks for having us over.
Thanks, Debra!
Why don’t you try a pocket door into your living room? Looks like a great place for one
I don’t think there’s room in the wall to add one, but I do love pocket doors.
Love the way you office looks!! So pretty!
Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful party!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are having a great week!!

Hellebores, my favorite winter flower! Trader Joe’s and Wegmans both sell beautiful pots of them for indoors. Then you can plant them outdoors, if you wish.
Interesting! I will look for those!
Hellebore flowers are what you have. They are wonderful! Love the console you have selected. And the door idea.
Thanks, Mary! They are so pretty…so delicate!
The console/cabinet will look great in that space if it isn’t to tall. I wonder if the Lenten Rose will grow in the South.
It should fit right under the window. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that flower on garden tours in the Atlanta area. I always loved it!
They grow well in Augusta, GA
I’ve seen them on garden tours in Atlanta and Marietta. I hear Augusta has wonderful garden tours!
Hi Susan
The console/filing cabinet is terrific and I believe your flowers are Lenten roses. Enjoy the sun,now that it has finally returned!
Terri Solomon
Thanks so much, Terri!

Definitely Lenten Roses and they will continue to spread but not agressively.
Oh, glad to hear that! Thanks, Kathy!
I believe the flowers are called Lenten Roses.
Thanks, Nancy!

Great idea about file table. Though that space is soooo calling for a built-in padded reading nook! Susan: have you considered the possibility of going through that little tiny closet thing to see if an electrician can hard wire a sconce on the left wall in that nook area? Know what I am suggesting?
Love that idea, although wiring is always so tricky in these old houses. That nook area is actually pretty long…it’s 10 feet wide. I do have a nice, deep reading nook in the master bedroom that overlooks the backyard and the birdfeeders. I need to have the seat cushion recovered, but it would be a great place to read on a sunny day. It can be seen in this previous post: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/lets-tour-the-gardens-basement-bedrooms-baths-in-the-home-i-just-purchased/
I love wall sconces, I should try to add some to this home.
Those are beautiful, sweet Hellebores! And I love the file cabinet. Looking forward to seeing it.
Thanks, Robin! Excited to have them growing in the garden!

What a great upgrade to file cabinets! So you get to enjoy another burst of spring–in Ohio. Have daffodils bloomed there yet?
They are blooming right now. Mine in Georgia bloomed two months ago.
Never know where you’ll find a nice piece of furniture. This one seems to match well with what you have and I went to the website and it’s also priced well. If you decide to purchase it, I look forward to seeing it and the lamp you choose.
It is priced very well. It came yesterday and I put it together. I’m looking forward to sharing it soon! I’m waiting on some baskets I order for the bottom shelf.
Hi Susan,
Your office is really coming along nicely, looking very pretty. I think the name of that plant could be Hellesboro maybe?? Hope you are doing well hon. Thanks for hosting as always.
Blessings, Nellie
Thanks, Nellie! I think you’re right! Such a pretty flower, love how delicate it looks.
