Saxon Flower by Royal Copenhagen

Welcome to the 93rd Tablescape Thursday!

Hello, sweet friends! How was your day? I hope you are well rested because we are jetting off to Switzerland this evening. You did bring your passport, right?

Cornelia is welcoming us back into her home for an evening of dining in her wonderful conservatory. I see she has lit the candelier for us…

Cornelia shared wonderful information about all the beautiful pieces she has used to create this table setting…so I’ll let Cornelia tell you about it in her own words. Thanks, Cornelia for having us…we are delighted to be here!

Cornelia shared:

“This beautiful china is Saxon Flower by Royal Copenhagen. It is handpainted. According to the backstamp my porcelain was made mainly between 1959 till 1966, a few pieces date back to 1975 till 1984. You can date your porcelain by locating the dots placed above or below the letters in the companys name. The Dinner Plates are silverpalated and made by Robbe & Berking.”

“The lace dates back to forties or fifties. It is made in Switzerland.”

“The napkins I used are Swiss embroidery handkerchiefs, there are so fragile and dainty and match perfectly with the lace sets.”

“The cutlery is silver and made by Jezler, Pattern is “Filet Rubans sanc et avec Feuille.”

“At a second glance you realize there is a difference between the two knives. The outer knife has a pattern on the handle. This pattern is called Filet Rubans avec Feuille (with leaf) the other is called Filet Rubans sans Feuille (without leaf). The pattern was created at the beginning of the 20th century. ”

“The cutlery above the plate is meant for eating fruits. It is by Jezler and made of silver. Even the blades of the knife are silver with is very unusual for a knife.”

“I bought the coloured glasses in a charity shop. They came from a elderly lady who got them as an engagement present in the 30ties/40ties. The other glasses are handcut crystal.”

“The flowers are all from my garden. Only the roses are bought. They are lily of the valley, lilac, wisteria, tulips, fern, lentenroses, forget me not. The Vase is made by Meissen (Wavepattern). The plate underneath is from Jezler.”

“The Candlestick is also Saxon Flower by Royal Copenhagen.”

Cornelia has a little coffee/tea table available here in the corner…

“The lily of the valley are from my garden. The vase is Austrian silver.”

“The china is all Saxon flower.”

Cornelia, thanks so much for having us back to your beautiful home…it is always such a treat to view your lovely tablescapes! I think we need a garden tour, too! 🙂

Looking forward to viewing your beautiful tablescapes!

  17. Hi Susan,
I'm so happy to have been back to Switzerland for a few minutes! Cornelia's table setting reminds me of visiting friends with my German Mother, when we lived in Germany.
The pattern of the china, the linens, the silver and flowers all evoke a certain "European style" that I admired as a child, and brought back wonderful memories! Thank you so much!

  26. I so enjoy seeing everyone's tables and your china and silverware. I wish I had room to store more of these goodies.

  27. Dear Susan and dear Cornelia,
This is another gogeous table, you have set. I haver never known that Royal Copenhagen had such pattern like Saxony flowers. The porcelains shape remains me a bit to KPM Berlin, Neu-Ozier. And the flowers look like Meissen also. Until now I knew Royal Kopenhagen only with its blue monchrome paintings and of corse with the Musselmalet pattern.
Saxony flowers is very elegant. I adore this clean white porcelain with the reliefed band and the golden rim, decorated with neat painted flowers in clear colors. And you have choosen so pretty flowers. They look as if exactly those one have inspired the procelain painter. The colored glasses are really pretty because their soft colors. Remains me to Venice glass. I really enjoy your pretty silverware. Thats makes a very elegant accent to the table as the lace placemats and the dainty serviettes do. The pretty room with that tables gives a feeling of a big family event like a baptism or wedding. I enjoyed the visit very much.
Susan, thank you for hosting this o blog party, it is so much fun for me every week.
I wish you and Cornelia a wonderful week.
    Greetings, Johanna

  33. Susan and Cornelia,

What a beautiful table setting and thank you for sharing! I think Lenox made a similar pattern as I did have soup bowls which I later sold to Replacements! I can only assume the Royal Copenhagen is the original pattern. Cornelia has so many serving pieces which is lovely to own and use!

  34. Rettabug says

    Hi Susan,

I meant to comment on Cornelia's beautiful home & table last night right when I linked into the party but blogger was giving me FITS!!!

I'm back this morning to Oooooh & Awwwwe over all the luscious details.

Did you notice how much her table & chairs resembles Bill's?

Her handpainted dishes are exquisite & I'm in serious lust over those lace napkins! I have a weakness for luscious linens.

Her crystal positively sparkes & that spring arrangement makes my heart sing. How pretty & I can just imagine the fragrance!

Please tell her 'thank you' for sharing her beautiful treasures? Each one is very special.

Thank you for hosting this wonderful meme each week so we can all enjoy each others dishes & learn so much about them.

    fondly,
    rett
