Thanks again to all who entered.  If you didn’t win, check out the giveaway from Banarsi that is still going on and will be ending soon.

Happy Friday!  Are you looking forward to your weekend?  The Country Living Craft Fair is going on here in Atlanta this weekend.  I went last year but I think I may skip the fair this time.  I’ve been invited to a special craft event to benefit our servicemen on Saturday night.  I’m looking forward to sharing some pics from the event in a future post.

Cutting Edge Stencils:
Today I’m excited to share an easy, affordable and fun way you can transform the walls in your room without the commitment that comes when using wallpaper.  Have you noticed all the wonderful wall treatments folks are creating in their homes these days?  I was stunned to find out many of the ones I’ve been admiring were not done by an artist and were not wallpaper, but instead were created with stencils.    The designs and wall treatments you can produce with the right stencil are beautiful and sophisticated!

Giveaway: Cutting Edge Stencils
Cutting Edge Stencils is sponsoring a wonderful giveaway today for BNOTP readers.  But before we get into the giveaway, I want to share all the amazing things you can do with stencils.  I think you’ll be surprised…I know I was!

You can create elegant, sophisticated damask designs like this one below.  I would love this in a dining room, entry or up a stairway or hall.  I’ve toyed with doing something like this up my staircase for a long time.  I just love knowing it would be hand-created and not just wallpaper.  There’s something so special about that!

And just when you think damask if a bit too fru fru or stuffy, you see this!  Wow!  So beautiful!   Such a great example of using a damask stencil with board and batten wainscoting below.

I really love this look… again so pretty paired with wainscoting below.

Can you believe this was done with stencils?!  It was created with the Cutting Edge Stencils, Mural Stencil Kit.  As they state on their site, “It just goes to show that you don’t have to be a classically trained artist to produce stunning murals.”

I love the look of a stenciled wall behind pretty white shelves.  This would be wonderful in a kitchen, laundry room, bath or even on the back of bookshelves or a cabinet.

You can get just as detailed and intricate in your design as you like.  I think this would be stunning in a guest bath.  Just lovely!

Walls are not the only thing you can transform and make beautiful with a stenciled design.  This totally got my attention because I have a similar chandelier in my office.  Beautiful!

This medallion pattern would be wonderful for a more formal area like a dining room.  So intricately beautiful and easily created with a stencil.

Imagine creating a beautiful room in an elegant, French design.  You would swear someone spend thousands having this all hand painted.

Gorgeous and again, done with a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils.

The ceiling in this room…beautiful!

Absolutely love this!  Bye-bye boring staircases!

Can’t find the fabric you need in the right color or pattern to upholster a chair or make curtains.  Design your own using a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils.

If you’ve never decorated using a stencil and are a bit nervous to try it, don’t be.  Cutting Edge Stencils has tons of videos showing every detail for almost any type design project.  You’ll find them here:  How-to-Stencil-Videos  I really enjoyed watching and learning how some of these amazing treatments were created.

Have a project in mind? Check out this great giveaway from Cutting Edge Stencils!

  103. Diana Walters says

Great post and I always enjoy reading your blog! I have been stenciling for more years than I care to admit to, and am always amazed to hear that some people don’t think they can do it. Take your time, remember that less is more and doing ceilings are going to take alot more effort than walls. Stenciling walls is LABOR. However, the results are beautiful and will last for many years while looking wonderful. Painting over stencils is easy using a primer, by the way. I would love to do my dining room in a tone on tone morrocan stencil.

Keep up the great work! Thanks again, Diana

  109. Ellen in Oregon says

I love the Birds on a Branch stencil. I would love to try this effect out in on corner wall in my guest room. I also really liked several of the dammask stencils and think my hall bathroom may be just the place to try out the techniques. Sometimes a guest bath is a “safe” room to experiment with designs that make a big statement because it can make a small room look larger and if you don’t like it you do not have to repaint a large room. I like to keep my design mistakes contained until I know if I like the effect. Thanks for another great resource.

  110. Bonnie Schmidt says
