Welcome to the 190th Tablescape Thursday!
Greetings! For this week’s Tablescape Thursday, we’re stopping by Cornelia’s beautiful home in Switzerland. Recently, Cornelia prepared a wonderful table setting to share with friends and family for Good Friday.
Cornelia said, “I set the table with Spode’s Chinese Rose. Chinese Rose is the most popular and long-lived of all Spode patterns, and is derived from the Spode INDIA pattern which was copied from early C18th Chinese KANG HSI porcelain by Josiah Spode in 1813-15.”
“The tablecloth and the napkins are by Curth Bauer, a German manufactory.”
“The champagne glasses are made by the Danish Manufactory Holmegaard.”
Place setting of Spode, Chinese Rose…
“In Switzerland we all eat chocolate eggs and bunnies. This one is filled with gianduja-stracciatella chocolate. Delicious and hard to resist, especially when they are made by one of my favourite chocolate maker, the Swiss chocolate maker Laederach.”
“The cutlery is silver by Jezler (Switzerland), the pattern is called Reed. The teaspoon is a different pattern by Jezler, it is called Lilly of the Valley.”
“The vase with the tulips is Meissen.”
“The two bunnies are made in the German Manufactory, Marolin.”
“The paper eggs are made in Erzgebirge/Germany. You can open them and fill them with chocolates eggs or bunnies.”
“The candle holder is Mexican silver.”
Cornelia, thanks so much for inviting us into your home to share this beautiful table setting!
Looking forward to the tablescapes posted for this Tablescape Thursday!

Hi Susan, I always enjoy seeing Cornelia’s beautiful collections and her home, too. The flatware is so delicate and I clicked to enlarge one photo to see the teaspoon better. My Mom’s flatware is Lily of the Valley also, but by Gorham and now retired. Thank you for bringing us this table and hosting such a fun party. Linda
What a beautiful table! I am so happy to see the details in that amazing china. I wonder how many special meals, gathering all around the table, this china has served. Susan, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to participate but so glad to be back! Thank you for hosting.
What beautiful china! Thanks for sharing and thanks for hosting 🙂
As always Susan, is such a treat and eye candy to come and see your posts of your friend Cornellia. This tablescape is gorgeous, specially the China-Rose Spode dishes and linens from Germany. The Easter touches are so subtle and just right. Thank you for sharing it with us. Going back to check this tablescape again. Hugs, FABBY
Such a beautiful table and so full of history. I have seen crystal by that manufacturer before, but I have never heard of the maker of the silver – must look for them! Thanks to Cornelia for letting you share with us!

I always love a visit to Cornelia’s home, her china and glassware is always exquisite. The papeegg holders brought back memories for me. In England we used to have similar filled with sugar eggs. The two large bunnies look as if they are standing guard to make sure no one eats the chocolate ones!! 🙂 Thank you Susan, this was delightful.
I always love to see Cornelia’s tablescapes…its like I get to travel to Switzerland…for FREE! Her beautiful china reminds me of some that my 90 yr. old sister-in-love has in FL. Very pretty! I also LOVE the deep blue Meissen vase that she arranged her tulips in. Such a special piece! Thank you to both of you for sharing all these exquisite items…oh, & I forgot the chocolate!!!! I had a friend whose DH traveled to Switzerland freq. & she would share the chocolates that he brought back. WONDERFUL!!!! Hugs, Rett

Hi Susan and Cornelia! What a gorgeous table. I love your china! It is so very unique! I have several German paper mache’ eggs and I love that there is a sweet scene on the outside and the inside of the egg! Your’s are lovely. Cornelia, your table is colorful and with beautiful traditional elements! I would love some of that chocolate!!!!! Thinking of that delicious Swiss chocolate makes my mouth water! I am a “chocolate snob” and I just love that smooth chocolate from Switzerland! Thanks for hosting Susan. I love to see Cornelia’s beautiful tables! Yvonne
The china is gorgeous. I especially love the cups. I’ve never seen that pattern of Spode before.
Cornepia’s dining room rug is so very similar to mine! Mine is wool and from Belgium. I love her tablescape and big, dining room. FABBY

Cornelia’s table looks so inviting and the pattern is beautiful. I love those large paper eggs. I was lucky enough to get two of them and I always put them out at this time of year.
