Welcome to the 40th Tablescape Thursday!
Wow, can you believe it…this is our 40th week for Tablescaping! THANK-YOU, dear friends, for participating during these past 40 weeks and making Tablescape Thursday such a fun event! I’m looking forward to many, many more!
This has been an exciting day for Between Naps on the Porch. Julia at Hooked on Houses is featuring the porch of BNOTP on her blog today! If you aren’t familiar with Julia’s fabulous blog, you are in for a treat. Julia goes behind the scenes for all of us and frequently posts large, beautiful pics of all those amazing movies houses we all drool over. She also hosts “Hooked on Fridays,” a great blog party each Friday where bloggers can link a post showing what they are hooked on that week. Thank you, Julia…it’s is an honor to be a part of your wonderful blog today!
You may recognize the pic below…it’s of the tablescape I put together for last week’s Tablescape Thursday.
Do you remember the floral centerpiece? It was comprised of purple Spiderwort and some white blossoms from a scraggly little shrub tree that grows wild under the trees in my back yard.
Right after I dissembled that tablescape, I decided to create another one using the same flowers, but in a different way.
I divided the flowers up into seven different little vases. The vases were arranged around two, tall, shabby-chic style candle holders. (Candle holders came from A Classy Flea several years ago.)
Found the little vases at the Dollar Tree.
Flowers from the yard and vases for $7…you really don’t have to spend a lot to create a centerpiece.
The inspiration for this week’s tablescape came from this little guy.
By now, you know I love lots of layers in my place setting.
A glass beaded napkin ring…
Salad plate is from Home Goods…didn’t have a pattern name on back.
Liked how the Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage plates worked with the pitcher. I fell in love with these when I spotted four of them in Ross. The search began for two more…eventually found one in Home Goods and one on e-Bay.
I’m using the large dinner plates from my set of Lenox, Butler’s Pantry, as chargers in this tablescape. For added interest I placed a woven serving piece underneath. The texture worked well with this “jungle” of a tablescape.
Thanks for stopping by to see what I’ve been monkeyin’ around with this week. Awesome tablescapes await at the links below!

LOL, Susan! I see a monkey has invaded your tablescape too! Two of the rascally little devils invaded mine. Love it all, and especially the monkey pitcher. I’m going to have to check Dollar Tree for those cute vases. I’ve been finding lots of cool things there lately.
This table says, Summer! It’s beautiful, Susan!
Thanks so much for hosting Tablescape Thursday. It’s been a couple of weeks, I believe, since I participated.
Love the dollar tree vases but the best is that little monkey. What a cutie. Great table, as always. Thanks for inspiring all of us.
Christi
Oh my gosh I love the monkey cabbage leaf pitcher! How cute is that! Susan, your table is breathtaking as always. You are truly such an inspiration. I am participating for the first time today, yay! Thanks so much for doing this. I always look forward to it.
Hello Susan!
I love those little vases from the dollar tree and how they add so much charm. The monkey friend is the best and cutest, he goes perfectly with your bamboo silverware and place mats. Pretty and charming and yes I would love to know some tablescaping secrets. Please share, Cindy
Your table is beautiful. I love the little monkey on the pitcher, so cute! The dishes are layered with visual interest and the colors are soft and serene.
Oh Susan, I LOVE that monkey pitcher!!! The whole tablescape is really beautiful, but the monkey just THE BEST! 🙂
Monkeys are a feature at Linderhof — you find them hiding everywhere! Love the little vases with flowers — I do that often — often it is better than one big arrangement.
As always, a great tablescape!
Susan Everything looks beautiful.
It looked good last week and the flowers look great this week.
Colors are very restful and then up pops a monkey….cute.
Hi Susan,
I’m finally back playing with some dishes for this weeks Tablescape Thursday.
Yourws is another wonderful tablescape and you used my favorite bordallo dishes!!! It looks just wonderful, as always.
Thank you for hosting and have a wonderful Thursday,
Tam
* CUTE, CUTE, Sweetie! Love, Linda *
I love all of the layers and the colors in this week’s tablescape. It also seems more “you”. The green is one of my favorite colors and I loved the napkin and napkin ring against the other plates.
Wow-40th week! Amazing!
Love that little monkey. Remember the “No More Monkey’s Jumping on the Bed” song from pre-school? I’ve had that running through my head since I opened your TT tonight. I have a question/suggestion. Would you do a tutorial on napkin folding? I would love that, and I’ll bet others would too!
I enjoyed the visit.
What about that sweet monkey!!!?
Love this table and the addition of a bit of whimsey!

Susan, you table is stunning as always! You should write a book.
Can you share with me any tricks about making Mr. Linky work? I’m trying to hook up for Flaunt Your Reds on Friday and I’m not able to make it work. I did e-mail the help desk and they said it’s on overload – that’s after I paid for the membership.
This is my first time to join in, but I’m a faithful reader! I have been so inspired by all of the beautiful tables! Love the monkey and my goal is to learn to layer more!!! Thanks!
OOOOOooooo’s and AAHHhhhh’s from me!!!
Beside that adorable monkey, I love the floral vases! There are so many things to see on this table that I found myself trying to look in the tiny corners to be sure that I hadn’t missed anything.
So glad that your little guy has promised to behave himself! He’s a real cutie and I bet he’s enjoying your porch!

Susan, You're just too clever for words! Have you considered writing a book on tablescapes?!? I'd buy it!
Love the adorable little vases & the centerpiece they created. It was so pretty the first time, but this is awesome! I'm still in love with your scraggly little bush flowers!

Susan,
You have the gift of layering! Well done, and I love making “mini” arrangements like you did that look like one big one!
Blessings…
I LOVE Julia’s blog as well! How nice that she’s featuring your porch!
This tablescape is very pretty, I often break up my flower arrangements too to make many smaller ones to place all around the house!
I feel so silly! LOL! I left this message on another post. DURGH! Anyway – thank you for hosting such a great event, Susan – and giving us something to aspire too! I love your tablescape, and we have matching flatware – perhaps not the same, but darn close! 🙂 I posted mine today in what was supposed to be my garden post … thwarted by Mother Nature … AGAIN!

Hi Susan,
It was love at first site a few weeks ago when I met Oooh, oooh, aaah, aaah, eeee, eeee and I am glad to see he is minding his manners! He was a very good little monkey at the luncheon a few weeks back! (not at all like his cousin, George.. who as you remember is always very curious!) I really like the idea of the different vases, it looks amazing! Have a great week!

Tell oooh oooh, aaah aaah, eeeh eeeh he can visit my house anytime! What a cutie pie! Like this one even more than last week’s table, if that’s possible!! And your little friend isn’t bad, either! 🙂
Hugs,
Linda
Hi Susan,
He sure is a mischivous little monkey, but oh so very cute. He sure does add bunches of personality!
Yes, you can absolutely use any of the pics from our post. I have others and will email them to you. I am only able to send three at one time, for some reason they are too large even when I compress them.
Karyn and I are still talking about how much we enjoyed our luncheon and especially having the opportunity to meet you.
Take care,
Nola
Just a very gorgeous table, love the money pitcher, so cute! Everything looks so summery. :O)

~Really Rainey~
That little monkey is so cute! I always enjoy your beautiful tablescapes. I would like to see you host a Thursday where everyone can show what type of centerpiece they keep on their dining table when it is not tablescaped for a dinner party. My table looks great when company is coming, but I’ve never been happy with it bare… I need some inspiration!
I need that Monkey! I have some Monkey Business going on in one of the upstairs rooms — he’d fit right in.
Scribbler

Just beautiful! I love the colors. Your centerpiece is awesome!
Hugs, Terrie
I would love to find some green cabbage plates that weren’t terribly expensive. When I do find them, they always are. I’m still looking! I love what you can do with a plate setting. Are you sure you don’t want to start your own magazine dealing specifically with this subject? I think it would be a winner!
Brenda
Hi Susan
You have so much china! Where do you stor it all?
I’m just grinning so big over the precious monkey. LOVE him Susan! I admire your creativity and the use of what you love.
It shows a real warmth and welcoming feeling in your home decor’.

Thanks for hosting..you will have to rent a tent soon ..this party is getting very big!
Have a great weekend!
Hi there,
Wow – I’m telling you my table never looked as good as what I’ve seen since finding this tablescape Thursday thread. This is like out of a magazine!
I have one set of dishes and it’s Corelle! Oh don’t groan, we just aren’t like “that” is all, plus we don’t have room for all that stuff. I have to confess, mostly we eat at 8-9 pm, in bed while watching tv. Now be nice – it’s just that I work up until then is all…
Ms. MaidenShade’s table is reserved for the cats to sleep on(don’t scream, we have a special acrylic topper just for them), when my in-laws come over or we have other company, ummm, which is never.
But, having said that – it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate great effort, fine taste, and lovely things which is why I come here. It’s high living done vicariously; )
TY, it is gorgeous!

Your table is absolutely beautiful and I love ooo ooo oo aah aah aaah eee eee!
But I ADORE the sign above that says Summer Breeze Makes Me Feel Fine.
I have an urge to join in the table scapes with my paper plates and some plastic spoons, but I don’t think it would make anyone in this serious meme laugh!!!!
Good grief…I totally forget Thursday was tablescape day…
I think I am getting old…ya think?
Next week. I will be on top of it…honest..
~smiles~
Mona
Another gorgeous tablescape. I love the fresh green and white colours.
First off I want to say, beautiful table! And second to whine, “Why oh Why don’t we have a Home Goods store in WA?” Love all your great finds you get there, how blessed you are to have that cool place to find bargins!
