Antiquing on Mother’s Day Weekend

Every time I go antiquing, I wonder why it's taken me so long. I'm always so surprised and amazed by all the wonderful things I find and how reasonably priced they are, especially compared to what supposedly passes as good furniture these days. Today, I visited the Queen of Hearts location that's just 3–4 miles from my home. Just inside the front door I saw so many beautiful furniture pieces, including this … [Read more...]

Let’s Go Antiquing at the Queen of Hearts!

A few weeks before Christmas, I was out running errands and couldn't resist a stop by the Queen of Hearts. They had their windows so festively decorated for winter. I love it when shops do that!   So cute! Let's go inside and see what's new--or maybe I should say, what's old! lol   I really liked this lamp, just didn't care for shade. I much prefer my lamps to have either white … [Read more...]

Change Can Be So Hard Sometimes

When I first moved into my home almost 30 years ago, I struggled to furnish it. As a faithful reader of Traditional Home and Colonial Homes magazines back then, I had fallen in love with classic-traditional furniture styles and antiques. I would regularly visit some of the best furniture stores in the Atlanta area--stores like Matthews Furniture, Beverly Hall, and Furniture Craftsman. I drooled over the … [Read more...]

Warm, Cozy Escapes

It's cold out and I'm craving warmth. All I can think about these days are soft, merino-wool socks, cozy cable-knit sweaters, warm wool throws, libraries with fires blazing in the fireplace, flannel sheets, down duvets, hot chocolate by the fire and great books for reading on those way-too-cold nights. When fall comes around, I want to spend my days in rooms like Ralph Lauren's Bedford home library. I'm … [Read more...]
