When Life Gives You Lemons…

What do you do? I’m a firm believer in just digging in my heels and pushing forward.

Don’t waste time asking why…

Or, why me?

Listen to your heart and find your strength from within…

How’s that old saying go?

“If you don’t like something, change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.”

  9. Susan, Happy Pink Saturday!! I love the pink rose petals in the cup and saucer all under the glass dome. But what really got my attention was the white iron bed in the last picture. I have this same bed that I purchased probably 25 years ago and I just love it. You can do so much when you have just a good simple piece like the bed to decorate around. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  10. Oh that was so wonderfully done! My roses are nearing their last days for the season and seem to droop much more quickly after being picked but I could do this with them and give them a second life! Thanks for the inspiration!

  19. Love the secretary and how you decorated it.

  20. Good example and a very beautiful room!

  21. I love the bedroom! I have the same blanket. I now know what to do with it. And I am going to paint my tall cabinet white.

  22. I am frantically making lemonade! What a truly inviting room, I just want to walk right in curl up in that chair while I sip a hot cup of tea then dive right into that bed with a great book before I close my eyes for a dreamless sleep! Oh heaven!!!!!

  26. Sue (Someone's Mom) says

Inspiring words and beautiful photos. I really think I like your guestroom even more than the porch. Maybe it is because I look at your secretary and see what mine could be. I still haven't attempted to paint mine, but every time I see yours…I dream.

  27. Misti of Studio M Designs says

I see when life hands you bad roses, you make them into a beautiful tablescape! Love the pictures and the sentiment.

  28. Susan, what a darling post for Pink Saturday. You really are one creative lady! I adore this bedroom, and I'm so envious of your secretary. I've longed for one for many, many years. Thanks for this lovely post. It's perfection! ~ Sarah

  29. Sometimes there is no need to question why. Our lives are what we make them, except occasionally the goof Lord has other plans for us. Trust and obey.

  30. Absolutely true Susan, I always say "you are as happy as you want to be". I collect all those little petals that droop and put them in an apothecary jar.

  33. Happy Pink Saturday, dear Susan. Thank you for making Pink Saturday special, and for taking part in this day of celebration and thanks.

There truly are miracles going on all around us every day. We just have to open our hearts in acceptance. Thank you for sharing the spirit of optimism. Life is what we make of each day.

  34. Terry @ La Bella Vie says

Thank you Susan for stopping by; I'm happy to know all is well. My first thought when I posted; I was going to ask if I could bring my "footie jammies" to come spend the night in your beautiful guest room but then thought how selfish of me to think about…well…me:) So I asked about you instead:)
Hugs darling girl, I love this post and prose oh and need I say; THAT ROOM!

What a lovely and welcoming bedroom!

My grandfather's desk is just like the one in the photos, but it's still the original stained wood color and it doesn't have the upper section (wish it did!). I love this desk so much as I never knew my grandfather. He was born in 1864, was 20 years older than my grandmother, and he died long before I was born.

    Hugs!

  37. Country Wings in Phoenix says

    Happy Pink Saturday Susan Sweetie…
Oh what a beautiful share today for our miracle weekend. The blooms, the reguvenation of the blooms into scented petals, so many changes in our lives, and so many ways to see those changes, and yet again so many ways to opt how to deal with it. A beautiful share, and such beautiful photos Susan. Just exquisite as always.

Please stop by and leave a comment on my blog as well. I am part of the Miracle Team and for all comments left on my blog Guideposts Magazine is donating $1.00 towards the next miracle makeover. I am dreaming BIG, I would like to make enough money for the next DOZEN miracle makeovers. I look forward to seeing you at Country Wings in Phoenix.

    Many hugs sweetie, Sherry

  38. Love how you turned things around…I would have never thought to use the petals that way.

    So pretty!

  39. Susan, I can just imagine snuggling up in your guest room. The lighting, colors and textures are so welcoming!

  40. marty (A Stroll Thru Life) says

Amen Susan!!!!! My mom use to say if we would just stroll through life we would'nt miss any of the good things and we wouldn't be bothered by so many of the bad things. Thus the title of my Blog. Hugs, Marty

  41. This was a beautiful post-so inspirational and perfect for Pink Saturday's Miracle party.

I have some roses that are ready to be thrown out but your post has just inspired me to do a spot of
    re-decorating! Thank you!

  45. Gloria (The Little Red House with the White Porch) says

Hi, Susan! WOW, I love this idea of the little teacup and flowers (petals) under a cloche! You are very creative and smart. I think I am going to STEAL this idea, since I have been blessed with ZERO creativity. 🙂
    Best,
    Gloria

  46. Oh Susan, not only did you do something simply beautiful with those petals, the words behind the pictures are very timely to me and perfect.

Obviously, you see the world through the artist's eye and create something from everything.

I really, really love this post.

Great message. Off the subject…the cabinet with the cream & gold paint is an exact match to the furniture in my daughter's bedroom…passed down to her from her grandfather. Dresser, nightstands, giant mirror, etc.
