If you’ve been waiting for Prime Day, it’s officially here! I’ve been checking out the deals today and have taken advantage of some of the really good ones. Today, I’m sharing the things I already own and feel comfortable recommending, along with some of the things I’m considering that have really good reviews.
A few months ago, I had an Ecobee Smart/WiFi Thermostat installed upstairs in the Georgia house, as I needed to be able to control the temperature whenever I was away, especially during the spring and fall months when temperatures often fluctuate wildly from day to day. A 9-hour drive back to Georgia is too far to drive just to change the thermostat from “Heating” to “Cooling.” The Ecobee has worked great and has given me great peace of mind. If you have a second home that you sometimes visit, or you just travel a lot, I’ve been very pleased with my Ecobee thermostat that was recommended to me by the company I trust for maintaining my HVAC system. I was shopping in HomeGoods a couple of weeks back and saw a cute beach tote that I came within a hair of buying. It was priced a bit higher than I would have liked and wasn’t in a color that I especially wanted. This adorable beach/pool tote that’s very similar in style to the one I almost bought is currently on sale in some really pretty colors. I just realized it comes with two sets of accessories, the beachy ones and the floral ones. Okay, now I love it even more because I was trying to choose between the two. Now I don’t have to choose!
This tote has another feature that the other tote I saw in HomeGoods did not have: a clear, waterproof pocket that attaches inside and is great for holding a phone or some cash. I really, really like that!
My family here in Ohio has been spending a lot more time at the pool this summer, often inviting me along when they go, so I need something that I don’t have to worry about getting splashed or wet. I think this tote would be perfect, if I could ever decide on a color! There’s also a tan/neutral version, but I’m torn between the pink and the aqua! Which would you choose? My favorite cleaner ever is on sale today! Time to stock up! This Super Cleaner is amazing and is my go-to cleaner for serious, hard-to-remove dirt and grime. I hope they never stop making it! When I moved into the Dollhouse last summer, I had the whole-house water filter replaced shortly after moving in. It’s supposed to be replaced once a year, so it’s coming up time to do that. Aqua Pure is the brand of filter that was already here, and it appears to be highly rated. So far, I’ve been very happy with it. I was just about to order the replacement from Aqua Pure today when I saw that it’s available on Amazon and is currently on sale for Prime Day. Awesome! That saved me $30! These yummy Miss Vickie’s chips (variety pack) that are so popular with my family, just went on sale. I just reordered the variety pack a couple of days ago, but I went ahead and ordered it again since they go pretty fast around here. I just ordered this all-cotton, beautiful eyelet dress about a week ago. It comes in a lot of different colors, but I went with green since it’s my favorite color. It arrived and I immediately ironed it because I couldn’t wait to wear it. I love it!
It’s currently on sale for Prime Day for just $21.99. Wow, what a great price! Note: This dress arrives packed tightly, so it will be very wrinkled when you first get it. I ironed mine with my favorite starch, and it turned out beautifully! I snipped off the little tassel things that hang down the front since I prefer how the dress looked without them. If you do that, please be careful not to snip the fabric. I found it very easy to do and love how the dress looks without those, but you may prefer to leave them. I keep a bottle of that starch here and in Georgia, since I use it a lot.
The gift bows I discovered recently are also on sale! I love how easy it is to turn them into a beautiful bow by pulling just two ribbons. This bow makes a big statement on a package and looks like an expensive bow, though it’s really not. They are easy to store since they arrive flat before you pull the ribbons to turn them into big, beautiful bows. You’ll find these on sale in sets of 15 here: Gift Bows.
I’ve been eyeing these buffalo plaid napkins for weeks. I love the pink and white combo! They are on sale for Prime Day, so I purchased a set today. I have this brand of napkin in several buffalo-plaid combos, and they are one of my most-used napkins. They are nice and large, so they fluff up and look beautiful displayed on a table. When I was purchasing the napkins today, I saw these adorable white, wooden bunny napkin rings just below. Wouldn’t they be so cute paired with the pink and white buffalo plaid napkins?! Another favorite that’s in today’s sale is this Lasko fan. It’s incredibly powerful. I have two: one in my office and one in my bedroom, and they really move the air! An electrician who was here working when I first moved in asked if the fan was actually cooling the air…that’s how much air they move! We still love the weather station and Lasko standing fan we bought last year. I just shared the link with my sister, and Mr. P. suggested we buy another weather station as a backup, hehe. I love the dress. I added it to my list, but bought a different one this morning. It will come in before Prime Days are over, so I can choose the eyelet as a replacement or additional one, ha!

Do you keep a running total of what you spend on Amazon? I found I had to do that in order to reconcile my Amazon purchases with my credit card bill. It is just so easy to order and return to Amazon. Also, I just purchased new luggage for a trip. Do you add something special to your luggage and carry-on bag to help identify it at the airport carousel? I could use a tip especially for my carry-on bag. I love reading your posts. Have a great rest of your summer.
Thanks so much, Lin! I don’t keep a running total, but I use the same Amex card each time I make a purchase and will periodically compare any returns I have to the statement online. It’s pretty rare that I have to return something, but I do love how easy they make it. I wish all stores did that!
I usually have a small, colorful ribbon tied to the handle of my suitcase so I can spot it on the carousel. Also, I almost always buy/use a suitcase that’s not black and looks a bit different from most. My last suitcase that I used for years and years was a London Fog plaid in jewel tones. I loved that suitcase so much! I thought it was so pretty and it was so easy to spot.
Unfortunately, Delta broke the wheel on it when I last traveled (before a recent trip to Breckenridge) so I had to buy a new one for the Breckenridge trip. Again, I went with a suitcase that’s kinda different looking, so it’s pretty easy to spot on a carousel. I don’t think I placed a ribbon on it for that trip since the suitcase is so different-looking. I would suggest using the following: 5Pack Silicone Luggage Tag with Name ID Card Perfect to Quickly Spot Luggage Suitcase by Ovener and using Neoprene Luggage Handle Wraps For Traveling Bright Color Luggage Tags|Handle Wraps|Handle Covers . We used both of these on each luggage case, for our last trip and our luggage was very easy to spot.
I love the black thermostat.The one I have now is hard to read. That coverlet is beautiful, but I have cats that can’t be trusted.
My husband and I have been talking about installing a smart thermostat because we travel a lot and would love to turn the air conditioner to the perfect temp the day before our arrival back home.

I have those pink and white gingham napkins (or very similar) that I had monogrammed in a pretty green to match my green bordallao plates at Easter. They look so good with that green monogram!

Hi Susan! I love your favorites lists! I love the dress, but I’m curious how it fits you. Many reviewers say it runs big and makes them look pregnant. I’d like to order that pretty blue, but I haven’t been pregnant in 39 years and although I enjoyed being pregnant, I’m not really looking to turn back time. LOL 😉 Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
I ordered a small and it fits pretty much the same way a Tommy Bahama size Small dress fits, if you’re familiar with those. It’s probably a little snug in the bust for women who are larger busted, but otherwise, it fits the way I would expect. If you are larger than a size 6 or 8 in most dresses, I’d probably go with a medium since that dress is a bit more fitted up top. Cindy, here’s what I’d do, I’d order it in two sizes while it’s on sale, then just return the one that you don’t like, since returns are free. That way you won’t miss the sale or risk it selling out.
Oh, and I don’t think it makes me look pregnant. A lot of dresses these days are designed where they are more loose/open on the bottom part, that’s a super popular style with Lilly Pulitzer and a lot of other companies. So I would not worry about that.
I just ordered two more…this time in the blue and the bright pink. I noticed that even though the blue wasn’t showing 40 percent off, when I placed in the cart, the price was just $21.99, so I got two dresses for $47.28 including tax. Love that! I really wouldn’t mind having it in a few more colors, but I’ll make myself stop at three! lol
