A Bridgerton Themed Table Setting, Featuring Lady Whistledown & Her Elegantly Coiffed Hair

Welcome to the 925th Tablescape Thursday! Have you heard of Bridgerton, a historical romance series that’s become a huge hit on Netflix? I never watch TV and haven’t had a TV in my home in probably 20+ years until I bought a cottage in Ohio near family and decided to create a movie room for family. Since adding a large TV to the movie room, I occasionally watch a movie maybe once or twice a month. The only subscriptions I have, other than for Amazon, are for the Hallmark Channel since 99% of the movies being produced are not ones I would care to see.

If you’re like me and can’t handle violence in movies, or don’t like sad movies where pets or main characters die, I recently learned about a website that’s designed for people like us. It’s called Does the Dog Die? At Does the Dog Die, you can search for any movie that you’re thinking of watching, and it will share a full crowdsourced evaluation of any trigger warnings you may encounter while watching the movie, of course, without any spoilers. So thankful that website exists because there’s nothing worse than sitting down to enjoy a relaxing movie after a stressful day, only to end up with your nerves on edge or sad when tragic things happen to the people/animals you’ve come to love in the movie.

Well, that was a bit of a tangent for a Tablescape Thursday, but I thought it might help explain why I had to do an online search to learn more about the theme of today’s table. My friend, Teresa, happened to come across an event recently in her local clubhouse. Lucky for us, she snapped some wonderful pictures of the many themed tables she saw that day. This very feminine, beautiful table was one of the tables on display. As I was looking at the photos, I thought to myself, “Why does that centerpiece look like it has hair?” lol

Yep, that’s definitely hair, or rather a very fancy wig. The floral arrangement is beyond gorgeous! Sooo beautiful! Love the over-the-top frilly tablecloth, too!

This was the information displayed on the table. I had never heard of Lady Whistledown, but she sounds like quite the character! I love the creativity of this tablescape! I’ll have to check out Bridgerton at Does the Dog Die? to see if it’s something I would enjoy watching. I’m not a fan of Netflix for many reasons, but maybe there will be another way to watch this series in the future.

Notice the pink, satin, bow-shaped napkins tucked through the handle of each teacup. Love creative ways for displaying napkins!

Does anyone recognize this beautiful china? I would love to know the maker/pattern name.

Love those big pink bows on the back of each chair! They really set the mood for this elegant, feminine tablescape! Thanks so much to Teresa for sharing so many wonderful tables, thus allowing me to share them with you! Looking forward to the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. You do know Brigerton is a highly racy show? It has sexual content, nudity and sexually explicit themes? I heard the love scenes were over the top.
I’ve never seen it, but heard about it from my friend who watches it. There is the one actor all the women were over the moon about. Just in case you’re thinking this is just a lovely period romance. Watch at your own risk! lol

    • Interesting. Nope, didn’t know that. I thought it was a romantic comedy-type show. No wonder it’s on Netflix! Thanks for the warning.

  2. I love, love, love Brigerton…..racy content & all. It’s a series for adults…not the young’uns! I’m not so prudish to think sex doesn’t happen in romantic comedies….if they offend you….stick with the Hallmark movies (gag).
Can’t wait for the next season of Brigerton!!

    • Charlotte, I didn’t say I wouldn’t watch it. Didn’t say it would offend me or think sexual scenes don’t happen in Rom-Coms. I’m not a prude, but knew some may think it’s a prim and proper (lol) period piece.
I enjoy the Hallmark channel as well, too. I don’t think the mystery episodes are “gag,” but some may. I love L&O SVU, Criminal Minds and NCIS, so I’m not easily offended or shocked. I may just have to sign up for Netflix to see what all the buzz is about. We all need a little racy in our lives!

    • I much prefer love stories like the one in Pride and Prejudice, or the one(s) we find simmering in The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion. To each his own.

  3. I love Bridgerton! I cannot wait for the next season to come! I did not find it too racy but I guess everyone has their own perspective. The table is gorgeous! It is so Bridgerton! Love the hair piece added to the floral arrangement.

  4. I have to agree with Charotte! I love Bridgerton & can’t wait for the next season!
Many of the scenes are being filmed not too far from me and fans are all a buzz because it looks like two wedding scenes are part of what is coming up! Racy? I hope so!

    • Mary, maybe racy wasn’t the right word. I should have said steamy scenes.
I’ve only seen a few trailers for the show. I may have to sign up for Netflix to see exactly what I’ve been missing. LOL

  5. Susan, thanks for sharing this beautiful table! I believe the pattern is Lenox Versailles.

I am a fellow non-tv person – nice to know I’m not the only one :). The only subscription I have is one to BritBox – it has all sorts of high quality adaptations of works by Jane Austen, Anthony Trollope, Thackeray, etc., and it’s also got more modern writers. For example, there’s a series on it called Belgravia by Julian Fellowes which I have really enjoyed. A few caveats if you decide to watch it – I’m not sure it would pass the “did the dog die” test. It starts right before the battle of Waterloo, then segues to mid-19th century London. It has great acting; beautiful, authentic costumes; and gorgeous interiors of buildings. If you do watch, don’t expect Downton Abbey. It’s very different, but I think just as good. I’m currently watching a series called The Other Bennet (about Mary Bennet, younger sister of Jane and Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice) which I’m really enjoying. It has a few anachronisms, but no dead dogs!

  6. Oh isn’t this fun?! I love it! I don’t really do TV either, but admit I am addicted to old British mysteries which we still rent videos to watch! Mostly it’s just because we don’t have enough time – I know if I had cable or one of the streaming services, I’d never get anything done! Thanks to you and Teresa for sharing this excellent table, and you for hosting, as always!

  7. Nancy Brantley says

Everyone thinks I’m the only person that DON’T watch TV. I thought so too until Susan said she don’t watch TV.

  8. I don’t know the china pattern, but I suspect it might be a Lenox design — the wide gold band and creamy color of the china is something probably made to coordinate with their classic ‘Eternal’ pattern.

  9. Kathleen says

What a fun tea party! Thank you Teresa for sharing. I really like the idea used with the napkins and the petal tablecloth. The floral arrangements are gorgeous. Spilling the tea is new to me. Regarding movies, I’m not into horror and violence any more (I can watch a movie like Die Hard, but the current movies being made are really way over the top in language, violence and dare I say sex).

  10. Wonderful setting!! Thank you for the recommendation on the website, my daughter is also a person who cannot bear to see a pet or animal hurt…I will definitely pass it on to her. I have heard of Bridgerton, and watched about a half of an episode some time ago. Thank you for sharing.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
