I’ve always had a serious crush on blue and white decor.
Even when paired with yellow.
Blue and white table settings are a fave, too! (Tablescape can be viewed here: Navy and White Nautical Table)
Over the years I’ve gradually collected a few books about decorating in blue and white. I always keep an eye out for them and every so often I do a search on Amazon to see if a new one has been written. I’ve added a few more to my collection since I shared this picture back in 2008.
The book I’m sharing today is another one of my faves on the topic of decorating in blue and white.
In the BNOTP Library: Blue & White in Your Home
Author: Lisa Skolnik
3 Things I Like About This Book:
- Beautiful pictures throughout including some seriously beautiful blue and white ceramics and dishware.
- Chapters titles are: Living With Blue & White, Setting The Stage, Patterns in Blue & White, Blue & White Tablescapes, Accessories in Blue & White and Taking Blue & White Outdoors.
- Filled with gorgeous rooms (both indoor and out) decorated in blue and white toile, check, plaid and striped fabrics. After seeing some of the blue painted furniture in this book, if I ever repaint my green hutch on the porch, I may go with a periwinkle blue. Seriously love the pictures and ideas in this book!
You can read more about this book, Blue & White in Your Home, at Amazon where I normally buy my books, via the picture link below.
You may remember when I shared A Passion for Blue and White by Carolyne Roehm a while back, another fabulous book about decorating in blue and white. You can read my review of that book here: A Passion For Blue & White by Carolyn Roehm.

Always a pleasure Susan, to see Blue and White, one of my favourite combinations.
Have been computer-less this past few days, now set up again with new computer and 8.1.
Megan, let me know how you like 8.1. Congrats on the new computer!
Well people had said it was difficult to get around, but I picked it up last night and set everything in this morning. I like it, Susan, much better than my old groaner!!! 🙂
The only problem I had, was the tech when transferring my info from computer to computer, did not pick up my e-mail addresses in Outlook, so am searching all over for them.
Skype went in with no problem at all, I had a new camera and my brother in England was so pleased when I logged in today with him.
That’s great! I stayed with 7 when I upgraded my system a while back since I’d heard a lot of folks didn’t like it. I’ll have to move eventually I’m sure.
I don’t own this one Susan. I think I may need to update my blue and white themed books. You’ve shared many more than are on my shelves. Once we are moved, I’m going to get my books organized by topic / theme as you’ve done. Or at least I’m going to give it a shot. 😉 I doubt they will stay that way because I’m forever moving books to use them here and there. Probably more than I should keep in the smaller space. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Susan, actually I stand corrected. I do have this book. The more I looked at it the more I remembered it and went right to it. See, I really do need to get a better inventory of what I have. 😉
🙂 Don’t feel bad Sarah…there was one blue and white book that I ordered twice! So now I have a copy in the office and in my guest bedroom. I’m so glad Amazon tells you if you’ve ordered a book before now, although that system doesn’t help for the ones I buy in thrift stores.
Bonjour chère amie,
Aucune faute de goût avec le bleu et blanc… Merci pour toutes ces belles photos que vous partagez avec nous.
❁ ♡ Gros bisous ♡ ❁
Thanks, Martinealison! Love the watercolor of you on the sidebar of your blog, by the way.
In our previous home, I had a blue and white bedroom with my periwinkle blue patchwork quilt and light lemon-colored walls. It was so calming and invigorating at the same time. I would love to recreate something like that again. Your bedroom and family room done in yellow, blue and white is so welcoming. The colors are so inviting….makes me want to relax and curl up with a good book.
Susan,
I’ve recently found your site & I absolutely love all your postings! I would love to know where you found the beautiful painted window of the rabbit you have hanging in your upstairs family room? In your 344th tablescape, your friend Marie has similar painted windows & they are beautiful.
Thanks, Kristina! I found that while antiquing in Marietta, GA on the Marietta Square many years ago. It’s signed by Janet Moses (1998) and I remember the antique dealer saying she is an artist down in Florida. They had several of her painted windows for sale that day. Unfortunately, the antique shop is gone now. If you google for her name, you may be able to find her online.
