Welcome to the 924th Tablescape Thursday! A few weeks back, Teresa attended a special event hosted by the Houston members of the Society For The Advancement of Floral Design. At this special event, beautiful table settings were created for everyone’s enjoyment. Last week I shared an adorable Winnie-the-Pooh table that was created for the event. (See that table here: Whimsical Tablescape in Celebration of Winnie-the-Pooh Turning 100 Years Old.)
One of my favorite tables that Teresa photographed was this table with an enchanting woodland scene. When I saw the photos, the first thought that popped into my mind was a favorite William Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I love that mossy tablecloth!

Look at that huge tree stump in the center of the table! I wonder if it’s partially a real stump—it looks so realistic! Notice all the woodland animals on the sides. I love how they are emerging out of the flowers and plants.

Here’s a view of the other side featuring more woodland creatures. I think this is my favorite table of all the ones featured at this event. I love it!

Let’s take a closer look at the dinnerware.

That appears to be a golden chariot…

When I zoomed in, the plate on the left appears to show a queen wearing a crown with another person nearby who is dressed in what appears to be Elizabethan-style clothing. The whole scene looks very much like a scene from the Elizabethan period, the time during which Shakespeare wrote approximately half of his plays. Shakespeare lived and worked through two historical eras: the reign of Queen Elizabeth (Elizabethan Period) and later, the reign of King James, known as the Jacobean period. The salad plate on the right is upside down, but when I zoomed in, I could see figures/people, but I couldn’t quite tell what they are doing. Does anyone recognize this dinnerware? I would love to know more about it.

Thanks so much to Teresa for sharing these amazing table settings! They are fantastical! Looking forward to the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

Wow, that’s a fantastical tablescape! I am all in patriotic 250th spirit and sharing an historical take on our nation’s birthday.
Hi Susan – This is certainly a Ryan Gainey-worthy table! Stunning!
Can you imagine seeing this in person? It’s so gorgeous. I remember seeing floral displays at a mall in a video that were huge like this one. Each one was different. I believe it was a contest of some sort.
Wow – that is competely amazing!! What a lot of thought and work went into that one! It’s beautiful! And I’m interested in the plate design too. Thanks to both of you – I love to see these!
Wow! That’s certainly a work of art.
Those plates are amazing.
A Greek Church in our area has an annual tablescape event that is worth the price. One year they had a ship’s facade and you walked up the steps to a table where one would sit and look over the side of the ship. They have guards to protect the treasured tableware. Thanks for sharing your photos Teresa.
