Hanging 13 Wreaths, This Year’s Front Door Wreath & Loading Up The Sleigh

Welcome to the 826th Metamorphosis Monday! It’s been a busy week as I prepare to head north again. I started to hang the wreaths on the windows earlier in the week and found them all painted shut. Even though the painters had the windows slightly raised when they painted the exterior this past summer, the windows still managed to weld themselves shut during the intervening months.

Thankfully, one of the painters came back out last week and unstuck them for me. The two dormer windows are hidden behind the magnolia tree, but they have wreaths, as well. I’ll have to see if I can add them to the Dollhouse windows once I’m back there.

You may remember last year, for the first time ever, I ordered a fresh greenery wreath online for my front door. Normally, I visit Home Depot, Lowes, or my local Pike Nursery to choose a wreath, but the wreaths at Lynch Creek Farm looked so pretty online that I decided to give them a try.

The wreath was beautiful and looked exactly as it had online. In hindsight, I think this particular wreath would have probably looked better on a different color door. It was gorgeous, but it was a lot of red for an already red door.Red door with fresh wreath

Since I had a great experience ordering from LCF last year, I thought I’d try them again for this year. They have so many beautiful wreaths on their website, I always find it hard to choose one. I love that they are an American company and that all their wreaths are made right here in the state of Washington. (Note: This isn’t a sponsored post, and as far as I know, Lynch Creek Farms doesn’t know I exist. Just sharing the good stuff as I find it!)Pacific Pepperberry Wreath from Lynch Creek Farm

This is the fresh wreath I’ve ordered this time around. I almost ordered this one last year, so I’m glad they brought it back again. I like that it has more greenery showing—I think that will look great on the red door of the Dollhouse. Last year, I came across their ad on Instagram during October, so I had my pick of delivery dates. This year, I didn’t think to order until a couple of days ago, so the first available date for delivery is the first week of December. That’s still plenty early in the season, so I’m fine with that date. My wreath is supposed to ship out on November 27th, so I bet it will arrive earlier than the estimated date just as it did last year. The shipping cost was a few $ less this year—only $4.95. I signed up for their text alerts and received a code for $5 off, so that ended up covering the shipping entirely. If you would like to check out their wreaths, centerpieces, and other fresh greenery, you’ll find their website here: Lynch Creek Farm.

As is the norm, my SUV is packed to the hilt with goodies I’m taking to the Dollhouse. I’m hoping I can place the “Hot Cocoa” sign I made a few years ago out on the sun porch, will have to see if there’s a good spot for it on one of the walls. (Find that post here: DIY Hot Cocoa Sign for a Hot Chocolate Bar.) I hope to set at least two Christmas tables while there for Tablescape Thursday. Hopefully, I’m not forgetting anything. I still need to add a few more glasses to the box that’s open.

Another view into this packed SUV—I’m hoping to try out the garden stool in the Dollhouse sunroom over near the chaise to see how it looks. I’ll need to add some packing paper around the Christmas tray that’s underneath the black lampshade. I just placed it there this morning so I wouldn’t forget it. I’m still trying to figure out how to get everything in that I would like to take this go around. It is times like this that I wish I had a big van or an even larger SUV. How are your Thanksgiving and Christmas/holiday preparations coming along?

  1. Thanks so much Susan, your wreaths are beautiful! Safe travels to the Dollhouse and Happy Thanksgiving~

  2. The red-on-red door is beautiful

  3. I just might have to check out those wreaths this year! Managing 2 households is even more of a challenge during the holidays!
Drive carefully. If you ever need a stop over in Charlotte coming or going, let me know – I’ll have a glass of iced tea with plenty of ice ready for you.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  4. Susan, thanks for reminding us about your great experience with Lynch Creek Farm-I just ordered a centerpiece for a friend.

Susan, both wreaths are outstanding! Awesome! I don’t know how you keep everything straight between 2 houses, taking stuff back and forth! I would be a basket case!!! You are amazing.

    • You know, the crazy thing is, I always somehow manage to completely underestimate what I can and want to take back. I thought this was going to be the trip where I’d be taking the majority of my books up for the bookshelves in the living room. After I finished loaded the things I really need/want to take up, I probably couldn’t get get 10 books in the car. I wish I had thought about the books when I rented the U-haul because I actually had quite a bit of space left, but ran out of boxes. lol Hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving!

  6. OMG – I think the wreath with the berries and bells from Lynch Creek Farm is just gorgeous, and I love it on your front door! I don’t think there is too much red. The green around the perimeter makes it stand out. I love real wreaths, real greenery, real Christmas trees. The artificial ones just don’t do it for me. I do buy a real Christmas tree, however I haven’t bought a real wreath in a very long time, as they die so soon. I have white double front doors, and used to tie very large, wide red ribbons around each door so that they looked like packages. They were so pretty, but have not done that in a very long time – just too much work to do all by myself. I don’t have a partner in crime to assist me!

Have a very happy Thanksgiving, Susan!

    • I do, too… especially wreaths and garland! I love the smell whenever you open the door, it smells so wonderful!
That sounds so pretty, Lisa…making the door a big Christmas present! I love that!
Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Lisa!

  7. The cardinal and the plaid birdhouse are so you! Hope they find a place in next year’s decorations. Decorating two places…how do you find the energy!

  8. Beautiful wreath. You just gave me an idea of putting one wreath on top of an all green wreath to make it fuller. I can’t use fresh greenery. So allergic.
Now that it’s getting colder, be sure to pack your emergency kit in case you are ever stranded on the road. Water, blanket and snacks. Bag of kitty litter for icy roads and flares. It’s not your driving I worry about, but other drivers. We recently had a terrible accident here. Police officers were killed because an impatient driver went around the cars stopped because of an earlier accident on the right shoulder, hitting the officers. Have a safe trip.
    Happy Thanksgiving to all.
PS: Susan, who is looking dinner Thursday ?

  9. Safe travels in that fully loaded SUV, Susan. As always, your window wreaths in GA look fab. Happy Thanksgiving!

  10. Susan,
Happy Thanksgiving!! I have wired 2 wreath together in the past to make a fuller wreath….Question….Do you still see your friend Marie whose home you always shared for the different Holidays?? I loved seeing her home…
Thanks so much for hosting!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are enjoying your week and you are doing well…
    Hugs,
    Deb

    • She used to call me whenever it was decorated, but I haven’t heard from her in a while. I need to call her and see how she is doing. I know she mentioned the last time we talked that she didn’t think she would be able to do as much as she has in the past. She had someone who always helped her with the really big things, like putting lights in the trees outside, and setting up the really big Christmas trees inside, and the last time we talked, she mentioned they were no longer able to help as much.

  11. I always enjoy seeing your wreathes. I will forever be thankful for your trick in hanging them. I can’t do ladders anymore so have to keep my wreathes low from now going forward. The new wreath you picked is so cute, especially for the Dollhouse. I don’t know how you keep up with the drive, but you do. Be safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

    Susan
I ordered the cardinal wreath with birdhouse a few years ago to hang on our shed door.
I believe you will enjoy the wreath.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
