Fall sneaked up on me this year. I just realized yesterday that the autumnal equinox officially arrived on Monday. With fall officially here, I’ve been thinking more and more about the upcoming holidays. In today’s post, I have a mix of seasonal and holiday favorites to share. I also solved a mystery concerning the scallop-designed ottoman in my office—more on that toward the end of this post.
Did you know Lenox made a set of porcelain salad plates for Halloween? I had no idea, but these are great! They are just the right amount of spooky!

This is how Lenox used them in a table setting, and it cracks me up! I may have to try my hand at recreating this setting. I think my grandsons would love it! You’ll find these Lenox salad/dessert plates available here: Lenox Halloween Salad/Dessert Plates.

Over the years, you’ve seen me use these Nora Fleming minis many times with my Nora Fleming serving pieces. (Nora Fleming Minis and serving pieces are available here: Nora Fleming Minis.)

…like this adorable St. Patrick’s Day mini. So cute!

I wish I had this one here at the Dollhouse right now for all our weekend GA games. I’ll be heading back to Georgia soon, and I’ll be bringing this one back with me when I return.

Well, I just discovered that Lenox makes “poppers” that will work with Nora Fleming serving pieces! What?! I just ordered this Halloween kitty one today. You’ll find this cute popper to use with your Nora Fleming servers here: Black Cat Popper.

Love this Christmas tree popper! So cute, and again, it will work with all your Nora Fleming serving pieces. You’ll find it available here: Lenox Christmas Tree Popper.

My favorite dinnerware for this time of year is my Spode Woodland. It works great throughout the fall, right through to Thanksgiving.

I’ve had six place settings for many, many years, and a couple of years back, I finally added another six, something I had wanted to do for years. If you’ve always loved this pattern, it’s currently available for the best price that I remember seeing it here: Spode Woodland.

When I was doing some fall shopping online last night, I discovered that Spode makes a beautiful, large turkey tureen. I compared pricing across several stores, including eBay, and found that he was very competitively priced, and I ordered him. He should be here the first week of October. I can’t wait to set a table with him as the centerpiece for Thanksgiving! If you need a beautiful, eye-catching centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table this year, you’ll find this grand guy available here: Spode Turkey Tureen. He’s also available in a 14-oz serving size, which is great for gravy. You’ll find that size available here: Spode Turkey Gravy Server.

This Fitz and Floyd pheasant would also be beautiful as part of a fall or Thanksgiving centerpiece. At 10.75 inches, he’s a few inches shorter than Spode’s Woodland Turkey Tureen, so perfect for areas where a larger centerpiece would not work. You’ll find this beautiful pheasant available here: Fitz and Floyd Fall Harvest Pheasant.

Are you in need of pretty cloth napkins for your autumn table settings? Here are some of my favorites that are very reasonably priced. These remind me very much of some napkins that I already have, but they are actually prettier, so I’m going to order these today. I like that they are 100% cotton, and they are my favorite size for napkins: 20 x 20 inches. You’ll find these pretty autumn napkins available here: Fall Leaf Napkins.

Here’s another great napkin for your autumn table settings.

I have these and love using them in tables this time of year.

Here’s how they looked in a previous fall table setting. Again, they are 100% cotton and 20 x 20 inches in size, so nice and large. You’ll find these available here: Autumn Napkins, Buffalo Check.

One more napkin to consider for your autumnal tablescapes. I’m pretty sure I have this one, or something very similar. This one is also 20 x 20 inches and comes in a set of 6 here: Plaid Napkins for Fall.

For Christmas, you can’t get more iconic than Lenox Holiday. I love, love, love this pattern!

Just look at that gorgeous gold rim! You’ll find this 12-pc set that includes 4 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, and 4 mugs available here: Lenox Holiday, 12-Piece Set.

Another one of my favorites for Christmas is Winter Greetings by Lenox. I love using this pattern throughout the Christmas season, right on through winter.

If you have a soft spot in your heart for our feathered friends, this is the dinnerware for you!

You’ll find this beautiful dinnerware available here: Lenox Winter Greetings.

Before I end today’s post, I have to share something I discovered last night. A few months back, I shared this beautiful ottoman with its scallop base. You may remember from that previous post that I mentioned having seen some wicker furniture like this in a sunroom on Instagram.

In that Instagram post, they mentioned the brand of furniture, and when I tracked it down, it was crazy expensive and way more than I was willing to pay for wicker. A few months back, I found a much more affordable alternative that’s just as beautiful and incredibly well-made. (Ottoman is available here: Scallop Wicker Ottoman.) I love it and it adds so much style and whimsy to my office and this seating area!

When I came across this book last night, I thought, “That’s the room! That’s the sunroom where I first saw this style of wicker furniture!” I must have seen it on Gil Schafer’s IG account since he was the designer for this sunroom. This room is featured on the cover of a book he released last year. I had to order it since this room was the inspiration for the ottoman I ultimately added to my office here in the Dollhouse. (Home at Last is available here: Home at Last: Enduring Design for the New American House.)

I already have one of his other books, The Great American House, so I’m excited to add this one to my library. You can read more about this book in my previous post here: The Great American House by Gil Schafer. The book is available here: The Great American House.

The company that made my ottoman makes a lot of beautiful, unique wicker pieces. In my opinion, their furniture is designer style, without the designer price. Love that! You’ll find all their unique and beautiful wicker furniture available here: Beautiful, Unique Wicker for the Home.

Happy Fall! It’s here!

Don’tcha just love those “aHAH!!” moments!!! I’m a “Decorative, Decor, Design, etc” magazine, book, etc reader…& that moment is so FUN!!

I love the Fitz and Floyd pheasant. I have their soup tureen in a pheasant and it sits in the middle of my table for Thanksgiving. I also love the Spode Woodland dishes.
The doll house is beautiful! Your discerning eye has done an amazing job. Wendy
Oh I love that holiday china! Both patterns are beautiful. Thanks for the links – I may be adding some to my collection soon. So fun about your ottoman inspiration, too. Hope your first days of fall have been lovely!
Susan,
I always enjoy your posts, thank you for the inspiration. My husband and I are preparing to downsize and I have a service for 12 Royal Hunt China, could you or one of your lovely readers please advise me of a source for selling it. It is new and comes with the serving platter. Please help, thank you!
I am so much more in the seasonal/holiday mood now! Lovely china patterns, especially the Christmas ones. What do your grandkids think of all your dinner china?
Susan, thank you for not only always identifying what you use, but for providing links where we can purchase our own.
Some of that stuff is just AWESOME, Susan. Thanks for sharing. And I adore that spooky Halloween tablescape – isn’t that just the cutest??
I have the Lenox Holiday china & want to know where you bought the white charger. I presently use gold chargers; thank you.
I ordered those back in 2008 from Horchow Online. They, along with Neiman Marcus, carried some really pretty chargers back in the day. I wonder what they have available now. I haven’t checked in a long time.
Elaine, I just did a search for pierced charger plates and these look very similar: https://bit.ly/46Hh3hT
They could be the same design. That’s awesome if they are available again. I get asked about that charger more than just about anything else that I own.
