Introducing A New Member In My Holiday Figural Family—Help Me Name Him!

Welcome to the 842nd Tablescape Thursday! It was so nice here yesterday, so I couldn’t resist placing this table out here on the porch.

My favorite dinnerware to bring out this time of year, Spode Woodland, is currently in Ohio right now, so I thought I’d set a winter-themed table, instead. Besides, I just added a new “character” to my family of centerpieces during my recent shopping trip to HomeGoods, and I couldn’t wait to share him with you. 🙂

Whimsical Winter Table Setting

It was love at first sight when I spotted this guy!

Winter Snowman Table Setting

I think Mr. Snowman needs a name, any ideas? I love this guy because he loves birds as much as I do. I knew he had to come home with me as soon as I saw the two Cardinals, but the owl and the squirrel sealed the deal. The sticker on the bottom indicates that he was originally $80. He was $59.99 in HomeGoods. I was tempted to wait to see if he would go on sale, but since they only had two at the location I visited, I decided to not risk them selling out and brought him home.

Here’s how Mr. Snowman looks from behind. Love all the detail, so beautifully done.

While in the store, I remembered that I had some small snowman plates at home. You’ve seen me use those a few times over the years.

I was so surprised when I got home and took a closer look at these snowman plates and discovered they have the same CR Hallmark on back as Mr. Snowman.

No wonder Mr. Snowman coordinates so well with my existing snowman plates. I wonder if they ever made dinner plates in this figural snowman design? I think the plates I have are better suited to use as appetizer plates since they are a bit smaller than a salad plate.

I thought about using a tablecloth but I always love the clean white backdrop of the table here on the porch.

There’s even a cardinal on the snowman plates. They really do look like they were meant to go with Mr. Snowman.

When Williams Sonoma released this tartan bedding many years ago. I loved the pattern/design so much, I even purchased the coordinating dinnerware.

This is the salad plate from that collection.

The charger plate is also from the Williams Sonoma tartan collection. The dinner plate is David Carter Brown’s Christmas Valley—one of my favorite patterns for wintertime.

The salad plates in Christmas Valley have more of a “Christmas” theme, but the dinner plates are mostly just winter-themed with sledding, ice skating, snowball fights, and sleigh rides. That worked great for this snowy-themed table setting.

The glasses are from the Christmas Valley collection, too.

The plaid napkins are from that same WS tartan collection and the sheer covers were a find in Pier 1  many, many years ago. I still wish that store would reopen one day, it’s just not the same shopping it online. I always loved going in there at the start of a new season to see what goodies they were bringing in. Since sleigh rides are often accompanied by the sound of happy jingling bells, I pull out these silver and gold jingle bell napkin rings for this table. Don’t remember where I found those now, been too long to remember.

I wonder if I can squeeze this guy into my car for my next trip back to the Dollhouse. I have so many other things I want to take with me this time, but I think my grandsons would get a kick out seeing him, so I need to fit him in.

To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate. That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

  1. Your snowman is just adorable! What a great find & so perfect with your plates!
He could be Frosty’s cousin, Chilly Willie. Or in the spirit of the plaid, McChill.
I always love seeing your beautiful bed all snuggly & plaid for winter!

  2. I love everything about your tablescape! It all coordinates so well together!

  3. Donna Martin says

A fun and festive tablescape. Your snowman looks like a “Rudy”.

  5. You were so lucky to find that centerpiece! He is adorable! Love this tablescape and as to his name how about the simple: Mr Frosty and friends!

  6. I love the new snowman! He is perfect for your collection. How about Chilly Charlie, Jingle or Twinkle?

  7. SharonFromMichigan says

Oatmeal. That’s what the little boy on the Rankin Bass Frosty The Snowman show wanted to name Frosty! LOL I love the tartan plaid for the holidays. I always wanted to make “Christmas curtains” for my house like the kitchen in Christmas Vacation movie. One of these days I will make them 😉

    • That is so funny! I know exactly which curtains you’re talking about…I can see them in my mind in that scene where Clark is looking out the window imaging the pool he wants for the backyard. I love those curtains!

  8. I love your Snowman I think he looks like a Smitty because you were smitten with him at first sight..

  9. Golly, I hope you have room in the new cottage for all your treasures…and this is adorable. I was a potter and did a whole line of Christmas snowmen/family plates around ‘Walking in a Winter Wonderland’. Which I just may drag out this year, because snowmen can go into January/February here in the upper midwest. Thanks for sharing, Sandi

  10. What about “Chris” for Christopher Radko?

  11. Your setting is adorable, especially the snowman, which I fell in love with. Sadly, when I decided to treat myself to his twin, I discovered that HomeGoods no longer has online shopping. They’re not closing their stores, and are actually opening new ones.

  12. Adorable Snowman with all the critters Susan! I have the same mugs and plates, the ‘CR’ logo on the back stands for ‘Corner Ruby’ for Ridgefield Home. The piece on eBay is misidentified as Christopher Radko. You can see the tag says Sleigh Hill Trading Company.

  13. I loved the fun tablescape today. Your snowman is just adorable, beautiful details. I’d call him Franklin or Samuel.

  14. Sir snows a lot looks right at home. So handsome.

  15. Oops. Sir Snows A lot.

  16. Rebecca Dineen says

    Friendly Fa La

  17. Susan that snowman is perfect for you and the table. I’m so glad you picked it up. It’s such a jolly table setting. Your grandkids will absolutely love it. xo- MaryJo

  18. Mary from Virginia says

Love the tablescape and your new addition looks like his name should be “Buckeyes Ben” can’t wait to see Christmas at the dollhouse!

  19. I love Mr. Snowman and all his cute friends. And I think Mr. Snowman suits him just fine. Wish I had a HomeGoods near me. I’d like to snap him right up. You always find the cutest things, Susan!

I’m looking for some winter flannel sheets. Wish I could find those pretty pinecone sheets you have, but L.L. Bean doesn’t have them any more. rats.

  20. Susan, I LOVE everything about your snowman tablescape!! Your new snowman centerpiece is beautiful and so perfect with the salad plates and mugs! You did a beautiful job putting this all together. Thanks for such wonderful inspiration!

  21. Oh he’s darling – what a great find! That’s the perfect table for him too. Thanks so much for hosting, as always, and for sharing the fun!

  22. Oh, isn’t he a CUTIE!???!!!!! I see him as a Chilly McWilly. And he is adorable.
And your plates with him – kizmet!

  23. Beautifully perfect snowman table! Love everything about it! Mr. Snowman was a find! Maybe you should let your grandson’s name him? :o) They just have to agree so no one will be disappointed!

  24. Fun table. I love Toni’s idea of letting your grandsons name him!

  25. Bob should be his name and then read the children’s book a snowman named Bob. It’s a precious book.

  26. Oh, the snowman is so cute, as well as the whole tablescape. Francis comes to mind because he reminds me of all of the iconic St. Francis statues that I see for the gardens. In fact, I have one. Protector of animals of all kinds!

    • I love that idea! This snowman definitely seems to be a protector of animals, the way they are all flocking to him and love him. Thanks for that suggestion, Rosie!

  27. Blue Gate Farmgirl says

I’m late to the party, as I’m hosting out of state guests. My name pick is McGlenn. In our home, every name gets a Mac or Mc. Glenn Is an English name meaning “from the wooded valley,” I also like the St. Francis idea as the critters hugging up to him are adorable.

  28. Where did you find that gorgeous picture above the bed?

  29. Love your Snowman! Visited 2 Home Goods to see if I could find one (even though I collect Santa Clauses). Didn’t find the Snowman but did find a Ridgefield Homes Corner Ruby Santa Clause with Cardinals and a Bunny. He’s holding a little dish with seeds for the birds. Needless to say, he came home with me! Thank you for the Home Goods tip!

  30. Frosty, of course!

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
