10+ Absolute Favorites for Summer—Can’t Do Without These!

The temps in Ohio haven’t exactly been consistent, but we are definitely seeing a lot more warmer days than chilly ones now. Some days have been so warm, I finally had to run the A/C here in my office. So I’ve been bringing out alllll the summer things, including my favorite fan.

When I purchased this fan last summer for the office, I liked it so much that I bought a second one for my bedroom. I love having a fan running at night, the white noise lulls me right to sleep. I also like that this fan came with a remote, so if I’m in bed and realize I forgot to turn it on, I don’t have to get back up. This fan is very powerful, it will shut the door to my bedroom at night if I don’t have a doorstop in place. Ha! Once, when I had an electrician here working, he asked if it was cooling the air. It moves a lot of air, so it often feels like it’s actually cooling the air, even though it’s just a fan. If you could use a powerful, remote-controlled fan this summer, you’ll find this one available here: Powerful Fan with Remote.Powerful Fan for Summer, Remote Control

Almost every spring, I add a new pair of Ecco sandals to my summer wardrobe. I practically live in these all summer long. They are so comfortable and supportive, sometimes I’ll even wear them inside in the wintertime with socks.Best Sandals for Arch Support and Comfort

They must be hugely popular since Ecco brings them back in new colors every summer. The most popular colors tend to sell out quickly. I have a pair in the color combo below…love when they are available in neutral colors, pastels, or pinks. You’ll find them in a bunch of great colors for summer here: Ecco Sport Sandals.

I’ve been wearing hats during the summertime for several years, since I try to avoid getting sun directly on my face. Now that I have white hair, it’s more important than ever since a hot sun beating down on white hair can turn it yellow…almost a cartoon yellow. So I’ll be doubling down on hat-wearing this summer!Summer Hat Storage, Decorating with Hats

These are my favorites that I rely on year after year. I found this one a few summers ago. It’s reasonably priced and looks great with everything, including shorts and dresses. You’ll find it available here: Summer Hat.

Another very affordable hat that’s perfect for a beach vaca is this large, wide-brim hat. It’s available with a lot of fun sayings/motifs here: Summer Hat with Wide Brim.

The woven/straw hat that I have purchased the most is this one with the adorable bow in back. Plaid Dress, Sun Hat with Navy Bow, Jack Rogers Sandals, Wicker Handbag

I love that bow design so much, I’ve purchased it in 3 different colors over the years: Navy, Cream, and Pink. You’ll find it available in six pretty colors here: Woven Straw Hat for Spring and Summer.Summer Hat Storage, Decorating with Hats

Another favorite of mine for summer is wicker bags. Nothing says summer in the south like wearing a wicker bag! I don’t think this round one is still available. Seems like I purchased it from J. McLaughlin, if I’m remembering correctly.Round Wicker Bag

I know this one def came from J. McLaughlin a few years back.Wicker Bag, Leather and Bamboo

They have some really cute ones available for summer this year, including this one. You’ll find it available here: Wicker Bags for Summer.Wicker Bag for Summer

Another staple in my summer wardrobe is a few linen tops. They are the closest thing I’ve found to wearing nothing in hot, humid weather because they let the breezes flow right through. There’s a reason linen is so popular for summer! I especially love long-sleeve linen shirts since the sleeves can be rolled down when out in full sun, or rolled up when in the shade. It actually feels cooler having them down when I’m in full sun since it keeps the burning sun off my skin. Linen clothes do require a quick ironing after being washed, but for the style, comfort, and coolness they give, they are very much worth it.Best Linen Shirts, the perfect linen shirt for summer

I especially love this beautiful aqua color that’s currently on sale 50% off here: Linen Tops. It’s also available and on sale in a pretty lavender color.

I discovered this sweater a few summers ago, and now I have three in my summer wardrobe. I keep one in my car full-time since I’m always cold in restaurants. It looks great paired with all my summer outfits and washes really well. You’ll find it available here: Sweater.White Sweater for Summer

If you’ve been reading BNOTP for a while, you know I love my Yetis! I use them constantly all throughout the year. I have them in multiple colors and love changing them out. There’s always one with me in my car, one by my bed, and several in my office. You’ll find them available in a bunch of great colors here: Yeti.Yeti Tumbler, Aqua and White

After using their tumblers and becoming such a huge Yeti fan, I have added a few of their coolers to my Yeti arsenal. Last year I purchased this soft cooler in two sizes and use/love them both. I carry the smaller one with me on car trips, like the drives I make between Georgia and Ohio, and they keep my drink nice and cold. You’ll find this adorable, perfectly sized cooler available in a ton of beautiful colors here: Yeti Cooler in 26 Colors.Yeti Cooler in Bright Barbie Pink

My son and I both love their large wheeled cooler since the wheels make it so easy to move around. My son has it in this classic blue color that’s a staple for Yeti.

I purchased the same cooler in this bright, limited-edition green color—green is my favorite color. They’ve come out with it in so many beautiful, tempting colors, I have to remind myself that I don’t need two! If you don’t yet have a rolling Yeti and have thought about buying one, you’ll find it available in a bunch of great colors here: Yeti Cooler on Wheels in 18 Colors. Oh, and the handy baskets I added to mine are available here: Baskets for Yeti Cooler.Baskets for Yeti Tundra Haul Cooler, Canopy Green

Happy Spring!

  1. Love your loves, Susan. I bought the fan (love) and I already had 3 of those linen shirts (love, love, love), and have already been wearing them. Keep the favorites coming. (Btw, where did that cute plaid dress pictured with bow-brimmed hat come from? Love that too).

    • Thanks, Rita! The dress was a find in Talbots quite a few years back. I wish they would do more those, the plaid is very flattering on.
