Build a Mantel

Welcome to the 41st Metamorphosis Monday!

What would you do if you didn’t like your mantel…just felt it was too plain and not large enough? Well, that’s how Pinky and Joe felt about their mantel. Originally, the fireplace didn’t have a mantel at all, so Joe added a very simple shelf to create a mantel that Pinky could decorate at Christmas time. Recently, they decided it was time to give it more substance and styling, or as Pinky put it, “dress it up.” In the pic below, Joe has begun the renovation process by enlarging the existing mantel.

A side view…

Here’s a view from the front as the mantel metamorphosis continued…

Definitely looking much more substantial! You can see Joe beginning the staining process in this pic below. They were loving the bigger mantel, but Pinky felt like something was still missing. The mantel still seemed a bit too plain.

Pinky used a lot of oriental pieces/accents in her family room, including the lamps on the mantel. This gave her the idea…how about adding some bamboo trim! She searched online and found just what she needed at Amazulu, Inc. Scott Cook assisted them and he can be reached at:(352) 243-5309 ext. 102 or [email protected] . They are located at: 1239 Commons Ct. Clermont, FL 34711

Here’s the “After”…WOW…just beautiful! And here’s our blue for Blue Monday…a painting with blue matting and beautiful blue and white porcelain. LOVE blue and white together!

A gorgeous custom designed mantel! I hope Joe got a big kiss for this redo…it turned out really great!

Now the fun begins…adding those decorative touches. The berries are so pretty paired with the blue and white porcelain.

And at night…so romantic! This is my favorite look!

Pinky and Joe liked the bamboo trim so much on the mantel, they decided to spruce up the area on either side of the fireplace under the balcony.

It ties in so nicely with the fireplace mantel, you’d think its always been there.

Amazing how small changes can make such a big impact!

Pinky and Joe…thanks so much for sharing your mantel renovation! I know this is going to provide tremendous inspiration for a lot of folks who have always wished their mantel was larger or had a bit more character.
