Celebrating Spring Dining On The Porch & An Upcoming Eclipse-Watch Party

Welcome to the 810th Tablescape Thursday! It’s been in the so nice and warm all this week but of course, the day I want to set a table out on the porch, it turned quite chilly with temps in the upper 50s. I didn’t let that deter me, though. The porch still needs a good scrub down, I’m just waiting for pollen season to get finished. The bottle tree needs a good wash, too. Have you dived into your spring-cleaning, yet?

Though Easter has passed, I still have bunnies on the brain.

Spring Tablescape with Tulip Centerpiece

Bunnies aren’t just for Easter, unless they’re the egg-toting type. Ha! None of the bunnies on this table are Easter bunnies, they are just adorable spring bunnies. I took a bunch of photos with the napkins on top of the salad plate, but in the end, the majority of the photos that worked were the ones with the salad plates visible. Funny how that worked out for this table.

You may recognize the tulips, these are the tulips I purchased a few years back that look so realistic. (Tulips are available here: Realistic Looking Faux Tulips.)

I was struggling coming up with a napkin combination that I liked for this table, then I remembered these sheer organza napkins. I rarely use the green ones in tables and almost forgot I had them. I found these in a local antique shop called The Magnolia Room many years ago. I wonder if it’s still open. It’s a good 30 minutes away from me on a good traffic day, so I rarely go that way. One of these days I’m going to make the drive back to see if it still exists.

These adorable bunny plates were a find in Pier 1 many, many years ago. The charger plates, a find in Marshall’s many years ago, are Spode, Kim Parker Home and the pattern is Emma’s Garland.

There are four different bunnies in the set—can you spot all four in the photo below?

The dinner plates are vintage International in the pattern, Glenwood. On the back of each plate it states: International, Glenwood, Alliance, Ohio. It made me feel nostalgic and a bit sad last night when I read that because so very little is still manufactured here in the U.S.

Speaking of Ohio, I purchased a bunch of really fun t-shirts for my grandsons to commemorate their viewing of the upcoming eclipse. This will be the second time in their lifetime that an eclipse has occurred. The whole family is going to an Eclipse watch party. Since they have two cats, I had to get this one with the kitties super-imposed over the state of Ohio. (Shirt is available here: Solar Eclipse Shirt for Adults and Children.)

This was another one of my favorites…love how it shows the exact time the eclipse will take place in various cities across America. (Shirt is available here: Solar Eclipse Shirt for Adults and Children.)  There are so many good ones online, HERE I couldn’t make up my mind and ended up ordering 5 shirts figuring they could wear them all this summer. It looks like they are still offering two-day shipping, so if you’re going to an Eclipse Watch party, there should still be time to get a shirt. Important: Don’t forget to wear the special eclipse glasses to keep your vision safe when you view the eclipse on the 8th! I still need to buy a pair of those for myself!

Okay, back to our table…the dragonfly napkin rings are from Pier 1 when they still had physical stores. Gosh, I miss driving over to the location that was just a couple of miles from my home and oohing and aahing over the new season’s finds. I always knew there would be something beautiful to tempt me.

The bunny glasses were another find in my local Pier 1 many years back. The green wine glasses are from Dollar Tree, also quite a few years back. The bunny vase is currently on sale here: Adorable Bunny Vase. I love the little butterfly on the top of the vase.

If you love the look of the tulips in the centerpiece, I found those here: Realistic Looking Faux Tulips.

Spring Table Setting in Pink and Green

I went with the “multicolor” set and found they work with so many spring table settings.

Happy Spring! I hope you are seeing plenty of beautiful signs of spring in your area now! Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

Can you tell me what the chargers are in your Celebrating Spring with a tablescapes on the porch and preparing for an Eclipse watching party?
    Thank you,
    Becca Munsch

    • Oh, forgot to mention those…the chargers are by Spode, Kim Parker Home and the pattern is Emma’s Garland. I found those in a Marshall’s many years ago. You may still be able to find those on eBay.

Thank you so much. I will look for them. Also, do you have any idea where I could get the New Forest Spode chargers that go with Woodland Spode? I was wanting a few more. I found 2 on Ebay and 2 on Replacements. I was wanting maybe 4 more.
        Thanks.

        • Oh, I hadn’t seen those before. I’m not sure where to look other than the places you named. If I come across any, I’ll let you know.

  2. Susan, You really set a lovely, fresh, spring table! Nice balance of vivid floral chargers, bunny glasses and realistic artificial tulips amidst the other paler colors. I always learn new tricks from your photos. Your “non-Easter bunnies” have me hopping in anticipation of spring, which seems to be fitfully coming and going this year. Hope your bunnies and grandsons enjoy the eclipse!

    • Thanks so much, Aris! Will you be in a place that will see it? I think Georgia is supposed to see an 81% eclipse from what I’ve read.

      • I live north of Seattle, so, nope, even if our cloud cover dissipates, we’ll be able to see only a partial eclipse at best. Good thing we enjoyed the last one all those years ago.

  3. Oh that’s beautiful Susan! I love the tulips against the white, pink, and green – just lovely, and so springy. Plus the bunny plates are darling! I LOVE the Total Eclipse tour shirt, too! Thanks so much for hosting, and Happy Spring!

  4. Very pretty table! I love the tulips. The bunny theme works all spring I think. Again, I love your porch!!!!!! We have been wanting to get our deck cleaned and open for the season but it’s been too cold or raining. Maybe next week!!!!

    • Thanks, Sheri!
Yes! I completely agree…maybe even into summer. 🙂 I hope that rain lets up soon, Sheri. We had a ton this winter, too…finally getting some sunny days.

  5. Michele M. says

We here in north Columbus, Ohio are supposed to have optimal viewing of full eclipse – really hoping it quits raining and isn’t cloudy cuz we’re having a viewing lunch party too. It’s been awful stormy and has rained soooo much since Sunday night. The backyard is so soggy – really hoping this dries up before Monday.

Your table is gorgeous and I can’t wait till it stops raining to get back outside and get my zen room cleaned up – I had started, then monsoon season hit haha.

    • Yes! Ohio is in the thick of it! That’s awesome that you’re having a viewing lunch party…love that!
Thanks, Michele! I hope you guys get some sunny days, especially for the 8th!

  6. Susan, this is lovely! I’ve long admired the Spode chargers and you always display them so beautifully. The bunny plates and glasses are adorable and I love the tulips – they look so real. Happy spring and happy eclipse viewing!!

  7. I agree with you, Susan. “Bunnies are for Spring, too!” Rabbits stay out here till May. Love the T-shirts. We’re just a bit west of the Missouri eclipse path. Our kids are heading east to see it. The 2 cats would be perfect because they’re a 2 cat family.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
