Welcome to the 659th Tablescape Thursday, a blog party sharing beautiful table settings for all occasions!
I was looking forward to sharing a table this week but yesterday I came down with a horrible stomach virus, complete with really bad muscle aches and pains. I rarely get a stomach virus so have no idea what brought that on.
I never like the taste of most drinks that are supposed to replace electrolytes when you get sick, but this was surprisingly very good! Their strawberry-banana flavor was also really good, it may be my favorite. Just wanted to share in case you also hate the taste of most sports drinks. I’m going to keep some of these on hand for the next time a stomach virus hits. I found this in a Walmart Market close to my home.
Since I didn’t get to set a table for this week, how about a little inspiration for Memorial Day? Click any link below to access that previous post.

Tablescape Thursday
If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.
That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table setting related, please let me know and I’ll remove it.

Yuk, Susan, so sorry you caught a bug! I’m sure you wondered about Covid, even though those are not the typical symptoms. Thanks for putting this party together in spite of your not feeling well. I pinned those denim crafts when you originally posted them. Love them!
Thanks, Rita. I’m sure it’s not that since I’m having zero problems breathing and no coughing at all, plus I haven’t gone anywhere except to pick up groceries. I haven’t been inside a grocery store in months until yesterday when I went to pick up the electrolyte drink. I can’t imagine how I caught a stomach bug, so weird! Kind of made me wonder if there was something wrong with the turkey or ham that I used in a sandwich, or the ground beef that I bought recently. Better today, just exhausted and still achy. But I can tell I’m much better today.
Thank you Susan, feel better soon!
Thanks, Jenna! Feeling much better right now, I think it must have been a 24-hour thing, thankfully.
Feel better! I have some ear, nose and throat thing going that also goes into a wicked head cold! Have a virtual appointment with doctor today! Augh!! Love these patriotic settings!
Hope you feel better, Mary! That’s great you can do a virtual appt. I had to do that with a doctor last year on my phone, it was crazy!
Glad you’re feeling better!
Love the patriotic tablescapes and denim crafts!
Susan, I hope you are better soon. Stomach virus are yuck!
My patriotic loving heart is singing with these posts. I remember the cute denim napkin rings and flatware holders. I’m not crafty, so I never made them, but they sure are adorable.
Get well soon!!!
Thanks, Sarah! You don’t need to be crafty to make these, they are so easy…they barely qualify as crafts. lol I promise you can def make these! 🙂
Oh I’m sorry you’re feeling awful! It was so sweet of you to post Tablescape Thursday anyway! All the tables were so much fun, and those napkin rings!
Thanks as ever, for all the fabulous inspiration. I can’t wait to cut up some jeans! Take care over there!
I hope you’re feeling better! I had 12 days of Covid stomach flu symptoms and no congestion, cough to speak of. I had aches and pains the first week. I did lose my smell and taste. No smelling the hyacinths for me. Then my daughter caught it and only lost her taste and smell. We both were so tired all the time afterward. It’s a weird virus. We both tested positive. Too bad only China is allowed to investigate it for the WHO. You can get an anti-body test to see if you’ve had it.
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. Those stomach viruses don’t last long, but sure make one feel miserable while they hang around. Bad food is usually the culprit, from what I read when I had it last year. Dear of you to post the lovely patriotic table settings in spite of feeling out of sorts. Hugs!
Your patriotic tablescape is a classic beauty Susan ! I love the plates and would love to have the salad ones to pair with red or blue ones.
Thank you for hosting this great party. Love tablescaping, it’s what specially made me blog.
Hugs,
Fabby
Hope you feel better…do yourself a favor a keep a bottle of Pedialyte in the refrig for those times when the stomach bug hits!
Funny you mention that. I used to have some in my fridge and I think I finally poured it out after a couple of years of it being in there. I only seem to get a stomach bug once every five years or something like that and I never know when it’s going to hit. I wonder how long Pedialyte will last in the fridge. I def need to keep something on hand, but preferably something that doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
Pedialyte just can out with a powder. My pharmacist gave me a sample-Orange Breeze. I haven’t tried it but the flavor sounds good!
Oh, good to know! That would be good to keep on hand!
Aww, Susan. I hope you feel better soon. I wish you didn’t feel obligated to post when you’re sick, but this was a great idea for a last minute post. And I’m sure everybody always looks forward to that little bit of sunshine in their emails on Thursdays. 😀 Take care of yourself! We’ll all be expecting something extra special for Monday! (no pressure, heehee.)
Thanks, Pam! I went right back to bed once that post went up. I felt a million times better when I woke up, so it was def a 24-hour bug. I feel almost back to normal now.
Glad you’re feeling better. Lovely Patriotic themed settings. I hate Gatorade with a passion. I like the Vitamin Water XXX and that’s my go to when I’m gardening, like today. I will have to look for the Body Armour. Does it have sugar substitutes because I don’t like that either. How I ever drank Tab in the 70’s is beyond me but I wanted to lose weight and keep it off. I don’t force myself to eat or drink things I don’t like anymore except that disgusting stuff you have to drink for a colonoscopy. Horrible stuff.
I know what you mean, I can’t drink diet drinks. If I buy a diet drink with artificial sweeteners, I get severe joint paint, especially in my hands and fingers. The BodyArmor Strawberry Banana that I really like says it has natural sweeteners. It didn’t make my joints hurt. I didn’t pay that much attention yesterday to what the sweetener in it was because I was desperate. My legs and feet were cramping really badly so I could tell my potassium and electrolytes were completely off from the effects of the stomach flu, so I had to drink something to replace the potassium and electrolytes. You can see what’s in it in detail here: https://www.drinkbodyarmor.com/product/strawberry-banana/
The other one that I really like the taste of was the Blueberry Pomegranate. It says no artificial sweeteners, too. Here’s more info on it: https://www.drinkbodyarmor.com/lyte-sports-drink/
Oh, that’s great to hear. Those short term bugs are so weird, but still so much better than one that hangs on. Glad you’re (almost) back to normal. And btw, thanks for the MD inspiration. I was behind on that and now I’m all over it. 😀
Hoping by now you are totally better! I agree with you the Blueberry Pomegranate is tasty and I like to have it and some of their other flavors on hand especially during the summer when doing yard work in hot, sticky weather, keeps us refreshed. I am recovering from a 2 week bout with covid and I will tell you it does take a bit to get your energy back. There was a bit of a learning curve to work through the delicate dance of doing and not over- doing, and now almost back to full strength. Hubby spent 19 days in the hospital and came home last Tuesday, with a 25 lb. Weight loss. Our summer will be spent getting him back to pre-covid strength, that’s why I’m so behind on reading your posts as every minute is full of home care. But I love them and will work my way through each. ♥️ Love the patriotic setting and hopefully this weekend I will change out my Mother’s Day setting and get ready for Memorial Day, which also means the porch buntings will be going up probably this weekend! Love our red, white and blue! Thanks Susan for all your extra effort even when not feeling well. Hugs!
P.s. I will get out my “patriotic napkin rings” that I made from your tutorial which I love and enjoyed making, the ones with the hair tie and cute red, white and blue wide ribbon. I also still have in my project box 2 bluejean pockets to make the flatware holder and hopefully will get that done soon, maybe when hubby is napping!
Sending our best wishes from Ankara Turkey .. Hope that you feel well soon Dear Susan..
Thanks, Nevin–thankfully, I’m much, much better now. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
