Kitchen, Pantry and Stairway Renovation

Welcome to the 90th Metamorphosis Monday!

I love it when readers of BNOTP share pics of recent renovations, because I get to share them with you! 🙂 Brenda, a reader of BNOTP lives in this adorable house with a wrap-around front porch. It may look small from these pics…but it has 6 bedrooms!

When Brenda and her hubby moved into their home, they knew it would need some serious updating. They had just retired and were up for the challenge. Today, I’m sharing Brenda’s kitchen and pantry renovation along with a big change she made to her front staircase.

Here’s a Before pic of one part of Brenda’s kitchen….

And, here’s the after: Wow! Yes, the stove is in the same place. The cabinets above were removed and a pot rack was hung in their place. Really opened up this area, didn’t it.

Another Before pic…

And the After
Brenda has two small dishwashers as opposed to one large one, enabling her to run a small load when needed. Perfect solution for empty nesters or couples where it may take a while to fill up a whole dishwasher. Love this idea!

Love the blue and white color scheme Brenda chose for her kitchen…such a classic combination.

In this remodel, Brenda had her cabinets refaced…

They had some additional cabinetry built, as well.

Some of the cabinets were redesigned with drawers inside.

Pretty neat how they look like regular cabinets on the outside.

See the open doorway…that used to be Brenda’s pantry.

After: Brenda’s husband built lots of additional storage inside. Notice the other changes made to this side of the kitchen…

The cute door was ordered from The Home Depot.

A peek inside…

Stairway Renovation:
Brenda’s home had a closed in staircase originally…very typical for the period her home was built.

They completely re-did it removing the old staircase and putting in a new one, opening it up on both sides. Isn’t it lovely decorated for Christmas?!

Brenda, thanks so much for sharing your beautiful kitchen, pantry and stairway metamorphosis with us today! I know it will prove helpful for folks who are contemplating similar renovations.

  39. Cass @ That Old House says

    Hi Susan!
Tell Brenda her kitchen makeover is lovely! I adore the wallpaper she used — I'm thinking of something similar in our kitchen, so it was so nice to see it "in real life."

the stairs are unrecognizable! How wonderful to have a husband with skills. Mine makes game efforts, but is better with a computer than a hammer.

    Happy MM.
    Cass

  40. That transformation is AMAZING!!! I think anyone would be proud to call that their kitchen 🙂 They did an amazing job with it!

Also, I love the idea of visiting the links before & after you. I always try to visit a bunch, but of course can never get to them all (well, I guess I could, if I didn't do anything else all day! There are just so many great projects).

    Thanks!!

  41. Sue (Someone's Mom) says

I just love seeing the transformations at other's homes. I love that pantry door, I've never seen one like it. The open staircase is so wecoming and perfect for decorating!

  42. Brenda's daughter here…Yep!! I have one talent mother! [even more than decorating and design] Everyone loves mom's house. It's so warm and cozy and you just have such a loving spirit in my parents home. My mom can see the beauty and creation beyond something dull and outdated. I'm a lucky gal having learned from her talents-hope I picked up a few. I hope she'll share her organized quilting room someday too-okay she's probably going to say-no way! but I love that room!!

  43. Wonderful before and after pictures. I could have done without a picture of snow though. ;o} The one thing I don't like about autumn is the snowy, icy, cold weather that follows in winter. La

  44. ♥ Calamity Anne ♥ says

Thanks for hosting another linky party!!!

I can't believe all the shelves in that pantry…so jealous!

  45. Janet - Birdland Treasures says

Love the little wedge/corner shelving in Brenda's kitchen – I've been trying to figure out where I could do that in mine. Also – converting a cabinet to drawers – WOW, that would be SO helpful around here! Lots of good ideas here, can't WAIT to start looking through all the links. Thanks!

  46. What a brave couple! They made great renovation in the house!
I loved the blue and white kitchen and specially the white tile back splash.
The pantry is very nice with the glass door.

  47. Entertaining Women says
