8 Spring-Summer Table Settings with Floral Centerpieces

Welcome to the 608th Tablescape Thursday!

Since I’m not at home with access to my dishes, I thought this week I’d share an outdoor setting using this beautiful picnic basket I ordered recently. Unfortunately, it still hasn’t arrived. I hope it arrives soon because I can’t wait to take it on a picnic.

(See more of this basket here: Picnic Basket.)

So instead of a picnic, how about a floral celebration! Everything here has been blooming beautifully, so I thought it would be fun to revisit some of the tables I’ve created in the past that featured flowers in the centerpiece.

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.)

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links.

Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

  1. I always looking back at tables past Susan and your ceramic bee skeps are one of my favorite things you have! Thanks for the tablescape fun!

    • I DROOL over those ceramic bee skeps every time I see them.

I search in vain on eBay and other parts of the internet to find these bee skeps–alas, zero success. Whoever owns these bee skeps (throughout the world LOL) must absolutely love them and would never consider selling them.

Susan, thanks so much for another lovely Tablescape Thursday!

      • Ha! I’ve often thought that when I was searching for an impossible to find handbag or something. When I first found them in Old Time Pottery, I could only find 4 or 5. I can’t remember now if I found one on eBay but I remember the 6th one I found at Replacements.com. I hope I never drop one because I’ll never be able to replace it.

    • Thanks, Jenna! I hope I never drop one since I’d never find a replacement. lol

  2. Oh those are all beautiful Susan – I especially love the white bunnies and wisteria You are amazing at finding wonderful things to post, even while you’re away from home. It must be so great for your family that you’re there! Thanks as always for the beautiful inspiration!

    • Thanks so much, Barbara! Had no idea I’d be gone this long! Definitely creating some challenges! Hope you are doing great during this very strange, crazy time we’re going through.

  3. I am loving all the spring inspiration! Thanks for hosting and stay well!

  4. An absolutely beautiful post, Susan. Your many floral centerpieces highlight your dishes perfectly. What an uplifting way to start a day, especially during these difficult times. Thank you.

  5. I’ve always loved your Garden Party for the Birds and the Bees. I like those skeps! And the pink Gerbera Daisy is so beautiful! All the posts are wonderful, but this one is special to me. Have a beautiful weekend, Susan!

    • Thanks so much, Maria! I’m feeling the urge for another garden party…maybe I can splurge on new dishes while I’m hear and create one of those outdoors. 🙂

  6. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS ! LOVE all our your tables ! Just BEAUTIFUL ! GREAT JOB

  7. Kathleen says

Those are all fun tables and so pretty. The night time on the porch is gorgeous. Looking forward to your picnic setting.

  8. I was wondering what flavors of the Super Greens Dietary Supplement Nancy had tried and liked. There were several flavors available.

    • She takes the regular/original one and always buys the lemon-lime flavor. This is the one she takes: https://amzn.to/35Ywhis .
I ordered it in the lemon-lime, too. I’m going to order the other flavors, as well. I like the idea of changing up the flavors each day so it’s different every day.

Susan, I Love all of your tablescapes and I save them to my Pinterest for when I need a special table setting for each holiday. Also I ordered an iPhone Case from Amazon and I LOVE it! It’s PURPLE FLOWERS!!! :))))) Thank You for helping friends to shop.

    • Thanks so much, Elizabeth! Oh, I’m so glad you like the case! I love them, too. I just ordered a aqua floral one about a month ago because I had used santizer wipes so much on my pink one, the color on the edges was wearing off. I just purchased the pink one again, was missing it. I love how inexpensive and well made they are!

  11. Cyndi Raines says

They are all so pretty Susan and very inspiring. My favorite is “Went to a garden party” with the magical blue hour softly fading in the background along with the dreamy glow of candlelight, so special! I love the metal terrarium, this looks like the perfect size. I will be on the look out for one when I go to flea markets, antique stores, or even TJ Maxx type stores, if we ever get to shop again. Lol

    • Thanks, Cyndi! Oh, I wish I had posted this a few months back because before I left home, I did a bunch of cleaning out and I ended up donating that metal greenhouse to the Goodwill near me. I hadn’t used it in ages and it was pretty heavy, so I decided to go ahead and part with it. I would love to have mailed it to you! Greenhouses are so popular, I bet you’ll find a cute one this spring.

      • Cyndi Raines says

Aww, that’s so sweet of you, I would have loved that, especially coming from you! I for sure will be on look-out.

  12. I love the garden party for bees! Thank you so much for hosting. First timer!

  13. Thank you so much for hosting! This week I am excited to share my plan for the one room challenge, some inspirational printables, and my may tablescape! Hope you have a wonderful day and are staying safe and healthy!

When buying and collecting for your tablescapes, how many place settings do you buy? I’m just beginning to collect and Don’t know what is an appropriate number. I currently have a family of 5. Thanks!

    • Here’s a post I previously wrote on that topic: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/how-many-place-settings-should-i-buy-when-shopping-for-china/
In a nutshell, if it’s a pattern I know I’ll want to use for special occasions where I’ll probably be inviting other family/friends (like birthday parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc..) and may need additional place settings, then I’ll buy as much as my budget will allow. The most I’ve ever purchased of one pattern (that I can recall) is 12 place settings. So it really depends on how/when I expect to be using that pattern. I almost always purchase 8 place settings, just because that’s how many my current dining table will seat, but I have 12 place settings of all my favorite Christmas china patterns since I know I may have additional people during holiday dinners.

Also, if I come across a pattern that I absolutely LOVE in HomeGoods, Marshalls or someplace like that, I will often buy as much as I can (up to 12 place settings) because I know that it will go quickly and I’ll most likely never see it again. They often seem to get discontinued or closeout patterns.

With glassware, I will sometimes by 1 or 2 spares to allow for breakage. That wouldn’t be a bad idea for buying dishware, too…say buying 13 or 14 place settings instead of just 12…but that can stretch the budget a bit. One example, a few years back I came across a charger plate that I loved sooo much in Marshalls. I knew I’d never see it again in there, expecially for the amazing price they had it marked. I bought the 3-4 they had, drove to another location, and bought a few more to bring it up to 6. A few days later I found a few more in another Marshalls. I ended up with an odd number…like 9 or something like that, but I didn’t care because I wanted to make sure I had as many of those chargers as I could find because I loved them that much and the price was ridiculously good. They were priced at either $2 or $3 each. Now when I see them on eBay and places like that, they cost a fortune! So every case can be different.

First, think about when and how you plan to use that pattern…is it for holidays or your everyday china? If it’s for every day, you def going to want a lot of place settings, maybe even 16 for a large family so you don’t have to wash dishes as much. I don’t drink hot coffee, so I usually end up boxing up the cups and saucers or tucking them into the back of a cabinet–bringing them out when I have a dinner party.

Anyway, I hope this helps, although my answer is a bit rambling. Just think about how/when you’ll use that pattern, then buy what you think you’ll need based on that. And it’s better to err on the side of buying too many place settings than not enough because once the pattern is discontinued, you usually have to pay a lot more if/when you find it later at Replacements dot com or on eBay.

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
