The Easter Bunny Spills His Egg-Hiding Secrets

Welcome to the 447th Tablescape Thursday!

Happy springtime! I spent much of Tuesday and part of Wednesday cleaning the porch and readying it for spring-summer. The porch is officially open for business! πŸ™‚ Yeah, summer!

Everything needed a good washing including the swing-chain-covers. The covers are washed and sitting on the swing waiting to be re-hung. The swing looks so naked without them! Not sure how much longer they are going to last. I’ve had them out here for 8-9 years now and each time I remove them to wash them, a few more of the snaps break. They are just cord covers purchased from Hobby Lobby many years ago. I’m not sure they still carry them, so hope these will last a few more years.

This week’s table is a whimsical setting for spring.

I think this is the first year I’ve used my little silver tree for hanging eggs. I found this little tree in a Ross-Simon store in Atlanta about 20+ years ago.

I originally purchased it for displaying Swarovski snowflake ornaments but over the years it’s been used for other holidays and occasions.

Today it’s decorated with mercury glass eggs. πŸ™‚

You may remember the white bunnies from this previous spring table setting. They were a find from Marshalls back in 2012. (See more of this tablescape here: Spring Easter Table with a Fresh Wisteria Centerpiece)

Have you ever wondered how the Easter Bunny decides where to hide all those eggs?

Well, it turns out he has a special compass that he uses to find all the best spots! “Behind shed” and in the “nook of tree” are favorite spots. (hee, hee)

The Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage dinner plates were from HomeGoods many years ago. Forgot to take  a picture of the salad plate I’m using in today’s table.

Here’s a photo of it from a previous spring table. I found these originally in Pottery Barn and I love the simplicity of the design.

Oh, before I forget, they finally have shell chargers back in stock again for summer! If you’ve been wanting shell chargers, you’ll find them available here: Shell Chargers.

If you would like to try your hand at making your own, you’ll find a tutorial sharing how I made mine here: Shell Charger Tutorial.

Pottery Barn Knockoff: Shell Chargers

I’ve also made them incorporating in a bit of sea glass. Love using these in summer/beach-themed tablescapes.

I finally got around to making five more of the bunny ear napkin rings I shared in a little tutorial post a while back.

If you would like to make these for your spring or Easter tables, you’ll find that post here: Bunny Ear Napkin Rings.

Each place setting got its own little compass.

I found these cute bunny compasses while out antiquing several years ago. They came with the cutest little poem and it read:

Have you ever wondered how
At the moment of sunrise,
The Easter Bunny quickly hides
Each Easter egg surprise.

He keeps a clever compass
Tucked inside his vest,
That helps him hide the Easter eggs
In places that are best.

Nestled in a tuft of grass,
Behind the potting shed,
Along beside the garden gate,
Or in the flower bed.

Down behind the willow tree
Where no one goes at all,
Or safely tucked between the stones
Beside the garden wall.

To our delight he does all this
Then hops along his way,
So we can find what he has brought
Each happy Easter Day.

So you know how much I love these darling stamped spoons with lovely quotes and sayings. I purchased several this past fall/winter and every few months I’ve been adding one or two more to my collection. I just love them and can’t get enough!

Hand-Stamped Silverplate Spoons

I keep them in a little sugar bowl atop my counter and use them daily. I have several with cute “fall-winter” quotes but since I love using them in tablescapes, I ordered a few more recently that are more suited for year around.

Adorable Spoons with Hand-stamped Sayings

Just before I left for Morocco, I purchased this one. It represents my love for travel. When I ordered it, I asked if they could make it with a moon and lots of stars. I didn’t know at the time that I’d soon be looking up at billions of stars while camping in the Sahara Desert.  This spoon will forever remind me of that special night.

This was the other one I ordered a few weeks ago. Do you recognize the quote? Glinda, the good witch in the movie, The Wizard of Oz, says something very similar to Dorothy just before she returns home at the end of the movie. I love this quote so much…so inspirational!

I ordered this spoon a few months ago after having just read The Secret Garden again. Will always love that book!

This spoon is a new one, a sweet gift from the owners of the shop where I’ve been buying all my spoons. Thanks so much Sarah and Ryan!

I would love to purchase some of their spoons with beachy quotes for my beach-themed tables this summer. I love using them in table settings and they would be so cute in a summer table!

If you would like to order a spoon, you’ll find them available here: Silverplate Spoons with Beautiful Quotes.

You can also custom order them with whatever quote or saying you wish. They have a menu on the left hand side at that link above, and I’ve found that to be the easiest way to find a spoon for a particular season or occasion. I love their holiday spoons! I’ve given them as gifts, too.

Happy Spring, dear Friends!

Looking forward to all the tables linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

  1. Susan, your Easter tablescape looks so pretty. I love the simplicity. Very fresh and clean. The bunny salad plates are darling.
I love your collection of spoons. I’ve started collecting them, too, and plan on giving as gifts with tins of cocoa during the holidays. Thank you for the link.
Enjoy your weekend and have a blessed Easter.

  2. There are so many wonderful items about the spring tablescape. First, it’s finally Spring! and things are blooming. I need to get out more; I had no idea mercury eggs existed and those pastel colors are gorgeous. Is this the first display of the compasses? You’ve kept them hidden for a couple of years now? πŸ˜‰ So adorable and unique. Your spoon collection is growing so fast. I want to order one as soon as I can settle on a quote. Just so many good ones…

  3. Your Easter table is charming and your porch looks so fresh and happy. Love those stamped spoons and thank you for the link. Wishing you a blessed Easter.

    Big Texas Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  4. Oh my goodness. Your table is just so lovely. From the tree to the napkin holders-just lovely. I have so enjoyed all your spoons! Happy Easter. mary in Az.

  5. I love your table Susan, specially that great flatware and big bunnies.
    Thank you for hosting
    Happy Easter.

  6. I love the tree for an Easter centerpiece- its is nice and “airy” and easy to see through, and displays the eggs so beautifully. The compasses are darling, too, and the poem is really cute. I must remember to make some of those napkin rings before next Easter. Not going to happen this year. Happy Easter!

  7. I love those Easter Bunny compasses! The table looks like Spring! Happy Easter!

  8. Your porch looks pretty clean to me!!! And you have leaves on your trees and bushes…..ours are still bare naked!!! Love the bunny compass, what a great find!!! The spoons are wonderful……

  9. Susan, I love those mercury glass eggs. They look beautiful on your silver tree. I have one of those bunny egg hiding pocket watches. So cute. I think I got mine at Hallmark. Love those white bunny plates too. I’m going to have to order some of those spoons for me. I ordered them for my six grandchildren for Christmas, but I need some too. Thank you for hosting.

  10. The compass. The compass. The compass…and to find so many. What a rare antique. I look forward to all your inspiration and this one is another bright and festive setting…I just can’t get over those darling compasses. Thanks for hosting, Susan! Have a lovely holiday.

    • Thanks, Nancy! They weren’t antique but I found them in the Queen of Hearts, an antique store in Alpharetta, GA. They carry a mix of antique, vintage and newer pieces there. For a while there, you could find them online, I remember some folks found them online after I used them in a tablescape back in 2011. I couldn’t find them online today, but you may want to google to see if someone has them…or maybe someone will have them on eBay.

  11. I have loved your Summer Breeze porch sign for a couple of years now. Would you share where I could purchase one? That song immediately places me into a comforting place (and into song)!
I am most happy to provide your referral, as I just did to the Milk and Honey Etsy store.
I enjoy your posts…one of my favorite is with the giraffe in your room window!

    • Thanks Sheryl! I found that one in a local shop many years ago but I’m pretty sure they ordered it from this company: Their sign looks exactly like mine and is the same measurement. It even costs the same as what I paid, so I’m pretty sure it’s the same sign. If you click on the second picture, you can see all the colors it comes in. I think might is maybe Baby Blue or may Baby Aqua. Or it could be Light Blue. I do love it! If it ever weathers too much, I’ll bother another one just like it. πŸ™‚

    • Oh, and thanks so much for sharing with Milk and Honey how you found them. That was so nice of you! XXX

  12. Terry Stewart says

You do a wonderful job on all your decorating of your porch. But I would like to know and see how you store all your collections. My sister has numbers settiings of dishes and lots of cabinet space or she did in her previous house. I help her pack all of tgem and it was a job. Especially since she is OCD about all things. She has “Cowboy” dishes to Spring dishes. I’m not sure where these dishes are stored in their new Lake Murray, SC house.

  13. Susan, BNOTP is a breath of fresh air to me. I love your ideas and tablescapes and appreciate all the fine details. Thank you for always bringing joy into my day!

  14. You have so much energy, Susan! Travel the world and come back and scrub you whole porch and have a terrific tablescape. How do you do it? Haha! I hope you and your family have a terrific Easter.

  15. Absolutely gorgeous Easter table setting! Truly inspiring!

  16. Susan,
I always love your “On the Porch” tablescapes! They are so inspiring and just lovely. Happy Easter!

  17. P.S.
Your shell chargers are much prettier that Pottery Barn’s.

  18. Your porch looks ready to go! We haven’t had the pollen season yet but I know you guys get it bad down there. I don’t envy the cleanup! Your table is adorable- love those new eggs with the compass- how cute! I just love all the spoons you’ve been collecting- especially “Life Began in a Garden”! I need a sign for my garden that says that πŸ™‚
Wishing you a delightful Easter weekend!

  19. A lovely eastet tablescape, Susan. I love your. Bunnies and the eggs…Christine

  20. Lovely! So colorful and those spoons are cool.

  21. Beautiful Susan! I adore the bunny compasses and your porch is the perfect setting for a spring table! Happy Easter!

  22. Oh, how I love that tree! Would love to know if there is one similar available somewhere. Beautiful table.

  23. Cute cute bunny compasses. I saw cord covers on the Ballard Designs website, or in the catalog, if you need them.

  24. Love your wizard of oz quote. I had a necklace made by an Etsy shop to give my daughter after she successfully defended her PhD dissertation at Emory. I think she tucks it in her pocket many times when she’s facing a challenge.

  25. Susan, I absolutely LOVE this tablescape, but the photo of the wisteria on your table from the past truly takes my breath away. I would want to eat every meal with those in front of me. πŸ˜‰ Then again, they may be too fragrant, I haven’t had those in so long I really don’t remember. πŸ™‚

All the best for a very Happy Easter!

  26. Just beautiful, as always. Love the bunny theme. Thank you for taking time to make your posts. Love those spoons…the more I see them the more I think I will get one! What is in the background on your deck. Is that new…it looks like a bottle holder with a gazing ball. Very pretty. Happy Easter, Susan.

  27. Very peaceful setting. I bet it’s so relaxing to sit out there! Thanks for sharing!

  28. Cynthia Raines says

Love it! Especially the bunny compass and for the last, at least 3 years I have looked and looked to no avail. Was even trying to wonder how we could make our own! ha! It was 85 here and oh so wonderful. I sat out on my front porch for 3 hours and actually fell asleep in the swing. Regarding the spoons, I ordered one for myself when you purchased your winter ones and mentioned that I heard about them from you. I agree, may have to get some spring / summer ones, they are fun to use. My husband knows it’s “my special spoon”. ha! May you have a wonderful blessed Easter Susan.

  29. HAPPY EASTER, Susan. Your table scape to celebrate the occasion is beautiful and I am envying you that Spring appears to have sprung in Georgia as the weather where I live has been all over-the-board from reasonable temperatures to the occasional snow flake mixed in with rain showers but hooray the snow is ‘finally’ gone as we can see the green of our grass again … . -Brenda-
P.S.: It is hard to believe it was six years ago you posted the Bunny Compass as I’ve been looking for them since then and am still searching, so like Cynthia R. I may just have to resort to making my own. (At the time there was a place online called that carried them, however they were out of stock and unfortunately the web link is no longer active.)

  30. Thanks for hosting this great blog party. You sunporch is beautiful and I enjoy all your table settings. I also enjoy looking at all the linkups and this Easter party has some gorgeous and a lot of variety and a lot of inspiring ideas. A lot of talented bloggers. Happy Easter Susan.

  31. Happy Easter from Illinois! :0)
I have to agree with the others, the compasses are sooo cool!
Your porch always looks so inviting!

  32. P.S. Did you see the baby giraffe? April finally had her baby!

  33. Thanks so much for the party!

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
