Welcome to the 796th Tablescape Thursday! We are still in full Christmas mode here, as I’m sure so many of you are, too. It’s been a week of feasting, Monopoly, Christmas movie watching, afternoon naps, bike rides on new bikes, eggnog drinking, Lego building, caring for neighbor’s pets, more feasting, more napping, more Monopoly, and a lot more Lego building! This week feels like a fun, mini-vacation before the start of the new year. This has been the state of the dining room table since shortly after we had Christmas dinner here. It’s a tablescape of Legos as far as the eye can see!
My youngest grandson and I are working on the Home Alone Lego House. We started it yesterday and have made tremendous progress. The first floor is nearing completion.
You may remember when I completed this Lego build last year. This Home Alone Lego set was designed for us kids who are 18 and up, and it’s the only Lego set I’ve ever purchased for myself. My grandsons are big fans of the movie, so I knew it would be a great set for us to work on together.
If you’re a fan of the movie, too, it looks like the house is finally back in stock again and available here: Home Alone Lego Set.
The other end of the dining room table is filled with The Lord of the Rings Lego build that Santa left for my oldest grandson. Having built so many wonderful Lego builds in the past, he hasn’t needed any help with this build which is a replica of the Valley Rivendell from the movie.
He started it on Christmas Day and is more than halfway finished. The detail in this set is amazing! For all the LOTR fans, this huge 6,167-piece set is available here: Lord of the Rings Lego Set.
Looking forward to the beautiful tables linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday! (Pssst: If you enjoyed this post, subscribe for email updates (it’s free) when a new post is up here: Subscribe for post updates.)

Did you dismantle the Home Alone House last year?
No, I bought a display case for it that you can see in this post: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/wicked-brick-home-alone-display-case-the-pros-and-the-cons/
The whole top/sides of the case lift up and off of the base so it can be opened up and played with again.
You give new meaning to “Grandma is coming” (to play with us).
Happy New Year to all of you.
Sounds like you’re having a great time, Susan. Truly idyllic. So much fun. And those lego builds are amazing. Over 6,000 pieces in that LOTR’s version?! Wow. And Court has gotten so much completed in such a short time. Very impressive. I think it’s going to be hard to tear yourself away when it’s time. Here’s wishing you continued great times with your family and a very Happy New Year!
Double the fun for grandma to complete another house. Sounds like a really fun Christmas!
Love all the beautiful lego sets!! Sounds like a wonderful time for all!! Thanks so much for hosting your wonderful Tablescape Thursday Party!! Wishing you a blessed New Year!
Susan, I’m wishing you a belated Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. So glad you are enjoying this holiday with family! I know I have been absent for several months, but you have been in my thoughts for sure. Every time I use a product that you have recommended, or when I was painting my front porch spindles, columns, and railings this summer you were there, ( I was thinking about your garage and its makeover), or when I used my shell chargers you were there! It seems I have very little free time since my hubby’s passing and life is very different. Always house or yardwork to be done, I then had tablet issues, but I am trying to carve out some free time and enjoy my former favorite pastimes so here I am.
I have some reading to do, to see what your latest projects have been, but it will be fun catching up. I went right to your November picks and will be ordering a mock turtleneck shirt or two, hehe! Enjoy building “Lego land”,
and your holiday time together! Hugs!
So great to hear from you, Cyndi! I definitely miss reading your comments and was wondering how you were doing. I hope a lot of the time you’ve been busy was spent doing fun things and not all work. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

We too have a tablescape of legos! My grandkids love the Home Alone set.
They are currently working on the set I got them, it’s Chewbacca from Star Wars. It’s supposed to be 18+ but, hey, there’s plenty of those here to help!
We gave the Home Alone Lego set to our 15 year old grandson this year per your recommendation. They set up the card table for him, and he went right to work finishing it in a few days. A favorite gift for sure! Wishing you a healthy, fun and happy new year!!
